The Secretary Local Education Authority Ika South, Mr. Amino Imasua, has during an enlarge meeting withhead teachers and members of the newly elected executive of the Nigeria Union of Teacher (NUT) in the local government area, advised the union’s chairman Comrade John Ezinwa, to carry all the teachers along, irrespective of their affiliation before their just concluded election, emphasizing that NUT is one indivisible union.

The Education Secretary, during the meeting which took place at the premises of the Education Authority, on Monday September 10, 2018, advised the newly elected executive members to know that employment comes first before unionism, hence they should be fully committed to their duties as union leaders, maintaining that there is no faction in the Nigeria Union of Teachers. He enjoined the chairman and his executive to forgive all those that voted against them, having emerged victorious, and encouraged them to partner with all in order to move the union forward. He urged them to coopt any viable contestant that lost in the election into their working committee, in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Continuing, Mr. Imasua enjoined the school heads to respect the NUT executive, noting that when they do so, the gesture will also be reciprocated by them.
Speaking further, the Education Secretary informed the head teachers that it is the turn of Delta North to host members of the Education secretaries in the state, hence he will be hosting the secretaries in Agbor on Thursday October 25, 2018, and solicited for their support.
In a brief remark during the meeting, the newly elected chairman, Comrade John Ezinwa who said he was happy and humbled by the support given to him and his executive by the head teachers, thanked them for the confidence reposed on him and others elected promising that they will never betray the trust. He solicited for their cooperation, support, advice and encouragement.
While assuring that his administration is going to carry everybody along, he noted that leadership is a privilege and not a right; hence he charged members of the NUT executive to always respect and work effectively with the Education Secretary, Mr. Amino Imasua and the head teachers in enhancing cordial working relationship in the council area. Continuing, he emphasized that he will stand firm on the part of truth and justice, maintaining that they have only one NUT in Ika South, saying that “based on the above, there was no victor nor vanquish in the just concluded NUT election.” He stated that his office is wide open for all to come in and share their laudable ideas with him in moving the union to greater heights.
The newly elected NUT executive members to run the affairs of the union in the next four years are; Comrade John Ezinwa (Chairman), Okoh Happy (Deputy), Acha J.G (1st Vice), Ebite Christopher (2nd vice), Obuseh Benedict (3rd vice), Arimokwu Isaac (Secretary), Aputu T.U. (Treasurer), Oshiegbu Desmond (Publicity Secretary), Godwin C.P. (Asst. Sec.), Iketin Ijeoma (Social Sec.), Ebida C.O. (Financial Sec.) Ufah S.O. (Ist Examiner of Acct.) and Ewubor Bose (2nd Examiner of Acct.)
In a chat with newsmen, the NUT Secretary, Comrade Arimokwu Isaac, showered encomiums on the Education Secretary, Mr. Amino Imasua, whom he said stood against injustice and intimidation, which gave room for a free and fair NUT election. He thanked the teachers for their support and urged them to throw their weight behind the administration.
