100 AKUMAZI PUPILS GET NEW SCHOOL UNIFORMS

There was great expression of joy by the pupils and staff of Umuocha and Akuma Primary Schools in Akumazi Community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State as the pupils received one hundred new school uniforms, fifty to each of the Schools.

Speaking at the event on Thursday October 18, 2018, the philanthropist and Acting Executive Secretary of Technical and Vocational Education, Delta State, Engr. Smart Ikem, said he decided to assist the schools with their Pupils uniforms to encourage the children, their parents and their teachers to put more efforts in children’s educational career. He disclosed that his other reason for identifying with the Pupils is to complement the unrelented effort of the government towards the gradual actualization of the SMART Agenda.

He  advised the Pupils to use their uniform well, by keeping it neat at all time and to above all, take their learning career seriously so that at the end of their educational pursuit they will have causes to glorify the name of the Almighty God. He concluded by encouraging the parents and the teachers of the children to always do their best in ensuring that the children achieve their set educational goals.

On behalf of the Obi of Akumazi Kingdom, Chief Solomon Chukwuma, Chief Francis Anazia, Chief Martins Egwuabor and others thanked their son, Engr. Ikem for coming to the aid of the pupils. They noted that this is not the first or second time he has done similar things for the Schools. They prayed God to continue to replenish his pocket and grant him the strength, good health and finance to enable him do more. They used the medium to call on other sons and daughters of the community to emulate his kind gestures.

In brief welcome addresses, the head Teacher of Umuocha Primary School, comrade (Mrs.) Felicia Nkem Nwanti and the Head Teacher of Akuma Primary School, Mr. P.O Egboko on behalf of their staff, the Pupils and parents, thanked Engr. Ikem for a work well done in their various Schools.

Comrade Nwanti in her thankful manner, extilled the philanthropic gesture demonstrated by Engr. Ikem, that since she got the teaching job till date, she has never come across someone who has done what Engr. Ikem has been doing for schools in his home town. She appealed to the parents of the Pupils to do their best to ensure that their children achieve their set educational goals.

Engr. Ikem who was accompanied to his Community by five numbers of staff of the Education Board, said that he made the promise of sewing school uniforms for the first one hundred Pupils to register in their various schools in 2016. In his words, “during one Town Annual Conference in 2016, I made this promise which I have come to fulfill today. I promised that I will single handedly sew uniforms for fifty Pupils at Umuocha Primary  School and also  fifty Pupils at Akuma Primary School. I thank God for giving me the privilege and Strength to fulfill my promise” he said.
