12-YEAR-OLD BOY RECEIVES “OGBUCHAI” TITLE IN AKUMAZI KINGDOM

History was made at the palace of the revered monarch of Akumazi Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume, when the traditional ruler conferred a title of “Ogbuchai” on a twelve-year-old boy, Master Abel Ekene.

The occasion which was held on Wednesday June 5, 2024, attracted family members of the young lad, friends of the title recipient, neighbours, and all who know his parents.

Master Abel Ekene received the honour from the king after he killed a white rabbit while hunting in the bush, which according to the tradition, anyone who kills a white rabbit/white animal will always be recognized by the royal father.

Bestowing the title on Master Abel, the monarch congratulated him and urged him to continue with his good conduct among his peers and always respect his parents and elders in the community.

HRM Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume, while congratulating the parents of the boy, enjoined them to support their child and always direct him on the right path as he is still a boy whose future is bright.

Beaming with smile while speaking with Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter, the parents of Abel, Mr. and Mrs. Ekene, who reside in Umunede with their children, said they are overwhelmed with joy with the new elevation of their son, saying that they are indeed thankful to God.

They affirmed that they will do their best in ensuring that their son, Abel accomplishes his dream in life, saying that he has made them proud.

On his path, Master Abel Ekene said he is truly happy with his new position, saying that he will do his best to uphold the good name of his family.

He applauded his parent for their determined and unflinching support they rendered to him during the time he was been prepared to receive the title, saying that he is thankful and proud of them.
