Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri has called on Deltans to remain supportive of the Okowa led administration and work for the governor re-election in 2019.
Hon Elekeokwuri who stated this when he received members of the Ika North East Local Government Legislative Arm; the councillor paid him a courtesy visit, said another tenure for Dr. Okowa will enable him to consolidate on achievements recorded so far.
The lawmaker said the Governor had embarked on various development projects across the state which had placed Delta on top in the comity of states.
Hon. Elekeokwuri who is the Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts commended the Councillors for the visit and urged them to spread the good deeds of the state government which was visible to all eyes.
The lawmaker advised the Councillors to be abreast with the nation’s constitution and the rules guiding their operations in order to impact positively in the legislative functions.
While stressing that the process of lawmaking at the state and local government was the same, Hon Elekeokwuri told the Councillors to live by example and relate with the people at the grassroots.
He noted that though the issue of separation of powers was clearly in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, but that did not mean that they should not work with the Council Chairman and other stakeholders to enhance development at the grassroots.
Hon. Elekeokwuri told the Councillors that he was impressed with their commitment and urged them to work as a team bearing in mind that the governor was from the local government area.
The Leader of the Ika North East Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon. Morris Nwadibie said the visit was to observe the plenary session of the state legislature and also to pay a courtesy visit to their representative in the House.
He commended Hon. Elekeokwuri for his activities at the House which had made the voice of Ika North East to be heard and pledged their support toward his re election.
Hon. Nwadibie on behalf of others promised to continue to seek his fatherly advice for the Lawmaker.
The highlight of the visit was the vote of confidence passed on Hon. Anthony Emeka Elekeokwuri following a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon. Boniface Etumudor seconded by Hon. Roseline Okorie and adopted.
The Hon. Boniface noted that Hon. Elekeokwuri had done well and deserved another term at the legislature.
The LGA legislators promised to work for his re-election.
