Members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ika South Local Government Area have affirmed that the party is out to envision a NEW DELTA This was disclosed during the maiden edition of the Mainstream Delta APC, (MDA), a formidable APC group to reflect the history and extent of its political positioning in Delta State held in Agbor on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. The meeting was convened by the party chief servant and a Human Rights activist, Barr. Felix Morka, who affirmed that through MDA, APC is willing to envision a NEW DELTA that will make a change
In his keynote address, Barr Morka x-rayed the political landscape of Delta State towards 2019 elections, the current state and battle readiness of APC in the state. He said MDA is a mobilizing platform to consolidate the membership drive of APC in order to take over government from the ruling party of the state in 2019. His words, “we have the structure of APC intact but the MDA will build the party and make it more formidable to reach all actors whom we hope to spread information about the party at all level. What we are doing in Ika South today is going on across all the local government areas in Delta State hence, 2019 will be a different engagement in Delta State from what we have witnessed for so long from the ruling party in the state. The people have suffered for too long under a selfish, purposeless and unbroken leadership in Delta State. We are about to envision a new Delta that will be full of possibilities and a Delta where its citizens matter and not about the political actors who enrich themselves with the resources meant for the good of the citizens. So, we are saying to our people, if you are tired of the man-made poverty in Delta State, hopelessness and massive corruption going on, then you must identify with APC for us to replace this government with a new government to serve the people of Delta State.”
After the keynote address, the meeting broke into open contributions where participants which include Pastor Kennedy Bienose, Mr. Emmanuel Oriegime, Mike Olokor, Mrs. Patsy Egbune, Mr. Godwin Igudia, Steve Ikpade among others who spoke, discussed the best way to project, protect and guarantee the political interest of the like minds in Ika South while enhancing and strengthening the capacity of APC in the state.
Meanwhile, one of the party leaders Gen. Nick Agbogun, earlier in his welcome address appreciated the members. He said he joined APC not for himself but to mentor the young ones not to vote failure. He buttressed his fact that APC as a new party has come to Ika South and Delta State as an opposition party with the intent of forming government in the next dispensation, adding that for it to be achieved; there is need for membership drive which according to him was the essence of the meeting.
Gen. Nick Agbogun(Rtd.) disclosed that the party has commenced mobilization of members and would take the campaign to every nook and cranny of Ika South and thereby, urged leaders at the ward and unit levels to be more committed.
Speaking with the press, the party Chairman in Ika South, Hon Edwin Okoh said the meeting could be best described as successful as participants cutting across all the wards in the local government were in attendance. He averred that the new APC wants to open her flanks particularly, to non-APC members for the purpose of membership drive and in the same vein entrench the party into their heart and conscience so as to make sure that the party goes down to the grassroot. According to him, “our expectation is that APC will form the next government as we have the energized sprit to do so.”
He concluded by encouraging the masses to keep faith with APC and vote their candidates when elections come.
