A trado medical doctor and stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ward 2, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Waziri Igumbor, has called on political leaders to be of good conduct and to particularly appreciate the support from the electorate who contributed to their election victory.
Dr. Waziri made the call during the week while expressing his dissatisfaction with the ways and manners by which some of political leaders under the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration have presented bad light, failing to appreciate the electorate that voted them into power.
According to him, “Everyone should bear in mind that you cannot eat your cake and have it back. Remember that we all are enlightened, and if you cheat or scandalize someone to get what you want, your ancestors must always pay you back with bad feelings.
“The politics of yester years are not as that of contemporary days where those voted into power will cheat the people to a very large extent. The importance of appreciating people’s effort cannot be over emphasized because tomorrow will come.
“I may not have had the privilege of meeting Governor Okowa on one on one but his antecedents have endeared him to the heart of the people. He has not discriminated in his sharing of the dividends of democracy and I also believe he would love to appreciate those who voted for him more so if those who flock around him as leaders could be sincere to bring them close to him.
He therefore advised that leaders both appointed and elected should borrow a leaf from the Governor by doing well to bring everybody together”.
