The Deputy Provost, College of Education, Agbor, Dr. Mrs. Florence Omumu on Sunday 22 November, 2020 celebrated her 60th birthday in grand style.
The well attended ceremony which had the presence of the First Lady of Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa among other dignitaries, began with thanksgiving service at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral, Agbor, the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area.
Testifying before the congregation, Dr. Florence Omumu said her joy knows no bound on the special day of her birthday celebration, adding that the good Lord has kept her alive to mark 60 years of her age. According to her, “I am celebrating longevity, the highest gift in life.

“As part of my thanksgiving to the Almighty God for the gift of life and all His blessings upon me and my family, I am into the ministry of almsgiving and I want to use this opportunity to passionately appeal to everyone who has joined me in this celebration to support me to be able to attend to the pressing needs of people.
“I am hopeful that with your awesome support, we will put smiles on the faces of people who are in need of assistance”.
The celebrant thanked all who were present for coming, most especially, Dame Okowa and her entourage, Dr. Joseph Ukadike, Provost, College of Education, Agbor, staff, family members, friends and well-wishers.
Responding, Dame Okowa joined Mrs. Florence Omumu to solicit for support from her guests, even as she prayed that the celebrant will continue to experience God’s presence working in her life and be filled with the wonder and glory of God’s unfailing love.
At the grand reception held at Palm Event Centre, situated along Ogala Street, Boji-Boji, Owa, the chairman of the occasion and member representing Ika North East LGA at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri congratulated Dr. Mrs. Omumu on the occasion of her 60th birthday. According to him, “It is a special day for the Omumu family. We have come to share the joy of her birthday celebration.
“I thank the celebrant for the quality of life she is living which has impacted positively on the society. She is indeed a mother worthy of celebrating and I wish her a happy birthday and many more years to come”.
On his part, Dr. Ukadike showered encomiums on the celebrant who he described as good, kind-hearted, very hardworking, amiable, and a woman of substance who is always there for everybody.
Continuing, “At 60, I urge her to continue to be the good woman she is, while I pray to God to continue to give her good health and to sustain her.
A close friend of the celebrant, Mrs. Maureen Omodon, said she has known Dr. Mrs. Omumu for over thirty-five years. According to her, “Omumu is among the first friends I met being a non indigene. Without mincing words, she is a wonderful woman with a large heart. Her smile melts away all tears. I owe her so much gratitude because she is not only a friend, but a confidant who has continuously given her support whenever I’m in need.
“One of the best things I admire about Florence Omumu is that she is a good manager of resources who brings out something out of nothing. I celebrate her on this day and pray that the good Lord will continue to keep her alive in good health to celebrate many more years to come”.
Mc Mama J remarked that the celebrant; Dr. Mrs. Florence Omumu is someone who gives far beyond her means to bring hope and happiness to people, adding that her humility, sincerity and uprightness are outstanding. She wished Dr. Omumu a happy birthday celebration.
