AUGUSTINE EDOBOR OKOH, NOW NWALI-DEIN OF AGBOR KINGDOM
The Dein of Agbor kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku, Keagborekuzi I, on Tuesday 24th, January 2023, honoured an illustrious abroad-based son of Idumu-Ika Oki Community, Chief Augustine Edobor Okoh, with the chieftaincy title of Nwali-Dein of Kingdom.
The well-attended ceremony held at the palace of the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, witnessed the installation of five other illustrious sons of the kingdom, who have contributed to the development of the kingdom in one way or the other.
Speaking in an interview with our correspondent, Nwali-Dein, expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty, for the honor bestowed on him, saying that indeed, Dein is a father to be reckoned with.
According to him, “Indeed, I am very delighted and most thankful to Dein, who has found me worthy to be among his cabinet of chiefs.
Chief Edobor, who is based in the United States of America, (U S.A), described the Dein as a king and father whose humility is equal to none, maintaining that he is a peace-loving king with a heart of gold.
In his words, “Baba is someone who cares for the welfare of his subjects. He is a developmental-oriented king, who is very open to developmental ideas.
“The conferment of my chieftaincy title is a call to be more dutiful in contributing toward the growth and development of Agbor Kingdom and to further support programmes in promoting the culture of Agbor Kingdom from going into extinction.
“To start with, I am going to showcase the beautiful and unique culture of my people to the Whiteman. In all, I will equally encourage Ika parents in the Diaspora to teach their children Ika dialect as it is our number one identity as a people.
“I pledged to continually bring in projects that will elevate the status of the kingdom and whenever I am called upon, I will not hesitate to do what is right or needed,” he said.
Continuing, he urged his fellow Chiefs to always brainstorm together to bring about ideas that will usher in more development to the community, saying that they will create forums where matters of the interest of the kingdom shall be deliberated.
Chief Edobor also appreciated friends and well-wishers for celebrating his honor, maintaining that as they have celebrated with him, celebrations will never cease in their lives.
Speaking also with our correspondent, an Abavo-born businessman, who is a friend of Nwali-Dein, Mr. Friday Agbango JP, noted that the Chieftaincy conferment of Mr. Edobor, is in acknowledgment of all the developmental projects he has carried out in his immediate community, Oki.
Mr. Agbango described the newly installed chief as a philanthropist and a man who loves the development of his community, disclosing that recently, Nwali-Dein, distributed books, furniture, and mowing machines to schools within the community.
Apart from that, Agbango maintained that Chief Edobor, has been sponsoring indigent students who desire to acquire education in school. He congratulated him on his Chieftaincy conferment and wished him the grace of God to continue to impact positively in the lives of others.
