BOJI-BOJI FORUM TOURS ORPHANAGES IN IKA

A formidable voluntary group comprising of men and women, cutting across ethnic cum religious and political strata has in the heat of the yuletide season toured some orphanages in Ika nation which included Job’s Orphanage Home in Ika South and Victoria Okowa Orphanage Home in Ika North East on Sunday, December 29, 2019.

During the visit, cartons of Indomie noodles, rolls tissue paper, packets of biscuit and bags of rice and cash gifts were given for the upkeep of the orphans in the homes.

Speaking during the visit to Job’s Orphanage Home at Upper Imudia, Ika South LGA, the President of the forum, Mr. Chuks Iku, FCA, noted that the members of the Forum came from far places such as Lagos to celebrate the yuletide season and as such, deemed it fit to identify with them.

In his acceptance, the Proprietor of the Job’s Orphanage Home, Prophet Joseph Igbodo thanked them for identifying with the Orphanage Home, saying that the home is geared towards not just the physical welfare of the children in the Orphanage but also, their moral and spiritual welfare as it is paramount to them.

The Proprietor further noted that his Charity Ministry cuts across three different categories which includes the orphanages, the widows and destitute, saying that he visits different communities within Delta State monthly to give succor to widows, the destitute and those in Ewuru Orthopedic Home.

Also at Victoria Okowa Orphanage Home, stories of how children were recklessly abandoned by their mother were told were. This was received bymembers of the Forum with shock, which according to them can be attributed to poverty, frustration and unwanted pregnancies to be the cause for the abandonment of infants which are later brought to the orphanage.

The members of the Forum however, promised to on their own accord, make out time to identify with them from time to time and give the little they have to give succour to the children.

Speaking with Ika Weekly reporter briefly after the tour, Mr. Chuks Iku, FCA, the President of the forum while giving a concise history of the forum, disclosed that the forum is an association of like-minds; who had their upbringing in Ika dating back to 25 -30 years ago, irrespective of political, tribal and religious affiliation, which according to the President, are the criteria for membership.

Continuing he said, “As members of the Boji-Boji Forum, we want to give back to the society and so, this year, we have decided to visit two orphanages, hence the visit to assist with the little we have in terms of cash and food items.

“For us in Boji-Boji Forum we seek an opportunity to the development of Ika nation because the development of Ika nation is paramount to us. And we also seek opportunity where we can support the less privileged, the poor, the needy and those who really need the support.”

He further stated that the Forum was formed with members in Diaspora including, Europe, Canada, Australia, Germany, USA and some other parts of the world, saying that others are based within the country, all with the paramount goal of seeking to the welfare of the needy.
