Ni Ika Ri Nma Cultural Group has reacted to an online publication which misrepresented the intention behind their solidarity rally for Mr. Sebastine Okoh and continuity of Ika carnival, declaring that they are not and will never work against Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
ANNUAL IKA CARNIVAL: RESIDENTS BARE THEIR MINDS
The cultural group which spoke through its founder/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Felix Omorogie in an interview with newsmen said that the reason behind their solidarity support for Sebastine Okoh was not to get any financial benefit from him but, to call on other stakeholders in Ika land to join hands with Okoh in bringing back Ika Carnival whose maiden edition took place in December,2015.
BRING BACK IKA CARNIVAL -Ika Cultural Groups
They therefore described Ika Carnival as a unifying factor, which has during the periods it was held, 2015 and 2016 brought the Ika people together, boost the economy of the Ika land and among other things made the yuletide period lively, adding that the group is not happy that the carnival did not hold last year, hence, it is calling on relevant stakeholders in Ika land to rally round the initiator, Sebastine Okoh to bring back the carnival.
IKA CARNIVAL IS THE SOURCE OF OUR JOY DURING CHRISTMAS
Speaking further, Mr. Omorogie noted that Governor Okowa will complete his two tenures in office just as Chief James Ibori and Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan did. He described Okowa as a good and true leader whose intention is to move the state to an enviable height of development. He appealed to Ika people to continue to support and pray for Governor Okowa’s success in office.
