The Obi of Umunede Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali Agadagidi I JP, has during the mini conference of Umunede Progressive Union (UPU) held on Saturday, recently, expressed the need for a more cohesive relationship between all sons and daughters of the community.
In his words, “let every Umunede person living abroad come home and contribute to the development of the community. If all sons and daughters of Umunede can come together as a body and make the economic and social development of Umunede land their focal point, a giant stride would be achieved in the quest to develop a modern and progressive community to the envy of others in the state and beyond. The growth and development of Umunede should be paramount and a course for all to champion. I see no reason why any Umunede person who has worked and retired to still live abroad. They should all come home and contribute to the development of the community; let me assure you all that nothing you do will go unnoticed. Our son and member representing Ika North East in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri is doing well. The executives of UPU led by the President-General, Mr. Ngozi Tony Ndudi have also done very well. I thank and commend you all”.
The Obi used the opportunity to enjoin all well-to-do Umunede people to use their good positions to affect the lives of youths of the community most especially in the areas of job creation, which according to him will also help to make development thrive in the land. He called on parents to caution their children on cult activities’, saying that anyone arrested involving in cultism is on his own and will face the wrath of the law.
The President-General of UPU, Mr. Tony Ngozi on his part, stated that his executive members since assumption of office have maintained a good working relationship with the Obi, members of Obi in Council, Chiefs and community heads to enable them realize their collective goal of speedy development of Umunede Kingdom. He said the mini conference has given them the opportunity to assess how far they have implemented the decisions of the last annual conference, tackle the challenges and chart a way forward. He used the medium to appreciate the efforts of the Obi, Chief Andrew Emeri and Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri towards the development of Umunede. He also thanked, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa immensely for his magnanimity and love displayed in the appointments of Umunede sons and daughters into his government and welcomed and thanked all delegates present for coming.
