COUNCIL BOSS ISSUES FREE CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN TO ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF

The Executive Chairman, Ika South L.G.A, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh has issued free Local Government of Origin Certificates to members of Delta State Association of the Deaf, Ika South Chapter.

He made this known while receiving Executive members of the association who paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the spokes person said the purpose of the visit is to congratulate Barr Okoh for emerging victorious at the January 6th 2018 Local Government polls, and to also register their plight with the Council Boss.

Highlighting their plights, he stated that majority of the members of the group are jobless orphans who engage in petty trades to survive.

He also stated that they are burdened by the fact that members of the association have been requested to pay certain amount of money to obtain their certificates of origin to enable them qualify for the ongoing NDDC empowerment programme.

They said majority of their members, being jobless orphans do not have such amount to get the certificates, hence, their appeal to the Chairman to help them.

Responding, Hon. Okoh appreciated the group for identifying with him, saying that he is happy to associate with them. Reiterating his earlier declaration to run an all inclusive government, he said he would issue a free Local Government of Origin Certificate to all members of the association from the local government.

The delegation, expressing their joy at the magnanimity of Hon. Victor Okoh, commended him for receiving and listening to them, praying that he will go from one level to another level.

It will be recalled that the Chairman had, after his assumption of office on the 8th of Jan 2018, handed over the rights of operation of Ika National Hall to members of the Physically Challenged, Ika South Chapter.
