Members of Ika Children in Diaspora, on Thursday, July 30, 2020 paid a courtesy visit to the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekwuzi 1, at his royal palace at Ime-Obi, Agbor.
Speaking during the visit, the group Chairman, Comrade Joseph Ihiekaonye Ikeke said their visit was to identify with the revered Agbor monarch.
According to him, “Ika Children in Diaspora was formed two years ago with the main purpose of contributing our quota towards development of Ika nation. Since the establishment of the group, we have impacted positively on the lives of Ika people especially, the youths.
“We have continued to sensitize the youths on the danger of engaging themselves in cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and to change their mindset on the narrative that school is a scam”.
Comrade Ikeke posited that unity was what the people needed to foster peace and progress that will promote the image of Ika nation, the state and the country at large. He commended the Agbor monarch for being an exemplary king whose reign has brought great blessings that has paved way for the development of the kingdom.

He also remarked that the leadership style of the monarch has transformed Agbor into a vibrant kingdom and envy of other kingdoms; while enumerating some of the association’s achievement as the printing of T-shirts, banners and bill boards that were used to support the re-elections of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Victor Nwokolo of the Federal House of Representatives and Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh of State House of Assembly.
The group chairman used the opportunity to intimate the Dein of Agbor of their plans to carry out repairs of potholes at the busy Abuja/Warri Express Way, close to the College of Education, Agbor main gate.
Responding, the Dein of Agbor welcomed them, admonishing them to imbibe the culture of contributing meaningfully to the development of the kingdom. This according to the monarch will help project the image that would attract development to the kingdom, adding that the uniqueness of Agbor Kingdom was to bring the needed development that would be beneficial to the people in the area.
The monarch charged them to be proactive in ideas that would change the narratives of the old generations, stressing that Agbor Kingdom, Delta State and Nigeria as whole needs a new narrative that will transform the country to a better society everyone would be proud of. Continuing, he implored them to always disassociate themselves from the activities of fraudsters, drug abuse, rituals, armed robbery, cultism and other activities that are inimical to the growth and development of the kingdom.
While congratulating the young men for coming together as one body under the umbrella of Agbor Children in Diaspora, Dein said that Agbor Kingdom needs able bodied young generation that are full of positive ideas that would strengthen the rich cultural heritage of Agbor which, according to him, would attract rapid transformation into the kingdom.
The Agbor Monarch who commended the achievements and plans of the association encouraged them to continue to demonstrate the commitment of bringing Agbor to lime light. He further admonished them to always exhibit the epitome of peace, love and unity everyone would be proud of.
Present during the visit includes executive members of Ika Children in Diaspora amongst who are Mr. Ikeoyi Cypriel, Vice Chairman, Mr. Isoko Isioma, Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bethel Clement, General Secretary, Mr. Izeh Lucky Financial Secretary, Mr. Friday Chukuma, Treasurer, Mr. Flight Onyanne, Adviser and Mr. Irabor Miracle, Public Relations Officer. Others are Mr. Agbeyeke Collins, member, Okwuijen Kester, member and Mr. Umeri Celestine, member.
