The revered monarch of Agbor Kingdom, H.R.M (Dr.) H.R.M (Dr.) Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I,, the Dein of Agbor, has charged his subjects to give their maximum support to the police in Agbor. He gave the charge while receiving the commander of the Agbor Area Command, ACP Chinyelu Ekejiani, and her entourage paid the Dein a familiarization visit at his palace recently.
The visit had in attendance some community youths and elders including the leadership of Agbor Community Union led by the Acting President General, Mr. Larry Onyeche, who listed kidnapping, cultism, robbery and stealing as the crimes facing the people in the kingdom.
The monarch explained that the need for indigenes to give maximum support to the police is of great importance to enable them effectively protect the land noting that they can give their support through constant and credible information. “A criminal is a criminal no matter what. If you protect a criminal, then you are nothing but a criminal. Therefore, you need to be very careful in what you are doing, try to work with the police and not against them.”
The Area Commander, ACP Chinyelu Ekejiani who is the first female Assistant Commissioner of Police posted to Agbor, thanked the monarch for receiving her and her entourage, saying that the visit was a rare privilege; for the command to identify with the traditional head of Agbor kingdom and as well discuss way forward on Security matters.
She noted from her six weeks of being in Agbor, certain issues, particularly cultism have been disheartening to the Area Command, appealing that parents should call their children, who according to her are the factors to the crime, to order as the general election draws closer.
In this vein, the monarch placed traditional sanction on anyone who is arrested for cultism and other related vices.
While soliciting the cooperation of the police by way of giving the palace names of any criminal from Agbor arrested, he said the criminal including his parent would be invited to the palace and be traditionally sanctioned if the need be. “In a society where we continue to make excuses for wrong doing, then we are not going to move forward. Therefore we will all embrace discipline for our society and the nation at large to be a better place” he added.
Meanwhile, the Dein of Agbor commended the Area Commander for being proactive, and appreciated Agbor community for the work they did in the past few months in ensuring that Area Command was successfully brought to Agbor. He prayed God to bless them, and for the Kingdom to be peaceful.
In another development, the Area Commander inspected the Agbor Police Headquarters and also held a general meeting with Police officers, Vigilantes, members of the various branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers among others. She was welcomed into the Division with a colourful Guard of Honour mounted by the Department of the Nigeria Police Force, Agbor Division.
