Members of Host Communities of Oil Gas (Hostcom) across the Delta North Senatorial District have recently visited his Royal Majesty (HRM), Dr. Emmanuel O Efeizomor II (JP), OON, the Obi of Owa kingdom at his palace in Owa and thereafter paid a solidarity visit to the Owa-Alero residence of Pa. Arthur Okowa, father to the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa where several issues that are affecting mining and production of Oil and Gas in the Senatorial District as well as possible ways of building peace and unity among the host communities and the royal fathers in Ika nation, Ndokwa and Aniocha South Local Government Areas of Delta State were discussed during their August visits
Introducing the main agenda of their visit to the Obi of Owa, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II (JP) visits, the Publicity Secretary to the Delta North Hostcom, Hon. Wallace Okafor appreciated them for their patients in waiting for their arrival and for their fatherly roles towards the peaceful co-existence in Owa kingdom in particular and Anioma nation in general, just as he equally used the medium to commend the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his diverse developmental strides across the state. he further disclosed that two years ago when Senator Okowa assumed office as the Delta State Governor, the first thing he did that gave them joy, strengthen and re-awaken their interest to start fighting for what belongs to them was that Oil and Gas production in the areas was to sponsor the DESOPADEC Bill which he described on behalf of the group as a welcomed development to the Delta North Hostcom.
Also speaking, the chairman, Delta North Hostcom, Chief Greg Ike-Una described Hostcom as a pressure group formed by some peace building members from the Oil and Gas producing communities in Delta North Senatorial District. He promised that hence forth, all members of Hostcom in Delta North will continue to work in harmony with the royal fathers in their areas and make sure that they (the Obis) are consulted in everything they do or any decision they take to enable peace reign in Anioma nation. He passionately appealed to the Obi of Owa to always regard them as their children and be answerable to them whenever they come to them for assistance and moral supports.
In his response, the obi of Owa kingdom, HRM, Dr. Emmanuel O. Efiezomor II (JP),OON charged the Delta North Hostcom Executive members at the meeting to always come to him whenever his assistance are needed as he is ready to work with them. He advised them to always unite themselves together, plan and share ideas together as that is the only way they can achieve a better goal in the oil sector. The Obi also advised that the group should get at least two legal practitioners (Barristers) from across the senatorial district that will be charged with the responsibilities of handling every legal issue for them. Above all, the royal father called on all Deltans to support his son, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to enable him go back to his office for the second tenure come 2019.
In the same vein, Pa. Arthur Okowa thanked the Hostcom members for the voluntary work they have been doing to ensure that peace and development come to Ika land in particular and Delta State in general. He therefore urged the group to continue to do more and to always be free to consult him whenever they are finding things difficult as his doors are open to accommodate their presence.
Other Executive members of Hostcom present at the meeting include; the Obi of Nsukwa kingdom, HRM, Obi Kenneth Ezegbunem, HRM, Obi Eze-udo of Ezionu kingdom, Mr. Raphael Okocha, the Acting chairman of Hostcom, Ika North, Chief I Bayem, Mr. Enoch Afamefule, Secretary to the group and others.
