DELTA NORTH TRADITIONAL RULERS DECLARE WAR ON PVC COLLECTION

As part of efforts to ensure Delta North produces a massive vote for their son. Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa come 2019, Delta North traditional rulers have declared a state of emergency over the registration and collection of Permanent Voter’s card.

They made this declaration during a meeting of Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum at the palace of the Obi of Issele-Uku, Aniocha North local government area, on Monday 23rd July 2018.

Giving his opening remarks, the chairman of the forum and also the chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor, II, Obi of Owa Kigndom began by emphasizing on the need for the 64 traditional rulers in Delta North to ensure that the existing peace in the region continues, stressing that the peace and unity experienced in Anioma region be passed on to the younger generation.

Deliberating on the foremost agenda of the meeting, Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and the impending election in 2019, the secretary of the forum stated that it is imperative for every Anioma person who is 18 years and above to have a permanent voter card moreso as the sitting governor of the state is their son.

Speaking on the challenges faced by electorates in registering or collecting their PVC’s they appealed to the Delta North local government chairmen present at the meeting to assist in ensuring the ease in the process.

Mentioning that in remote areas where it is an uphill task to register for the card, they sought for assistance from the local government chairmen, and also charged them to make the PVC a compulsory requirement in transacting with eligible voters in their various local governments.

The traditional rulers stated that Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa being their son, it would be a shame for other region outside Anioma to produce the highest vote come 2019. They disclosed that to enable them cast a block vote for the governor, they will ensure that all eligible voters in Anioma region are equipped with their PVC, stressing that any eligible voter in Anioma nation without PVC by the end of August 2018 will be declared an enemy of the nation.

They further disclosed that they will embark on massive campaigns to sensitize the people to collect their voter cards calling on the government and local meaning Anioma people to support the proposed campaign. They unanimously called on chairmen of the local governments to place stringent importance on PVC as a requisite document in attending to people, urging that those up to 18 without their PVC should not be attended to at the various local government councils.

They further emphasized that the collection of PVC is imperative to ensure they produce a massive vote for their son the governor, come 2019.

The local government chairmen in their separate remarks affirmed their willingness to see that there is compliance by their constituents. They assured the traditional rulers of their partnership to drive the PVC collection process, ahead of the 2019 general election.

Earlier in his remarks, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Efiezomor, applauded the council chairmen for attending the meeting to deliberate with them, stating that they are different from their predecessors.

In attendance at the meeting were traditional rulers from Anioma Nation, Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi, Hon. Moses Iduh, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh, Ika South Chairman, Hon. Chuks Oseme, Aniocha North Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Christopher Osakwe, Ndokwa West Chairman, Hon. Wius Ndukwe, Oshimil North Chairman, Secretary Ika North East Local Government Mr. Chiadika and others.
