An ex-police officer who gave his names as Destiny Aliekwe from Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area was on Sunday, October 20, 2019 apprehended while attempting to burgle the home of Chief Samson Agborma, the Iyase of Nsukwa Kingdom situated around the Agbor Technical College, Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.

The suspected was apprehended with combined efforts of the people in the neigbourhood and the men of the Delta North Security Network, Agbor.

Confessing, Destiny Aliekwe pleaded guilty of an attempt to steal, claiming that he was hired by someone to steal a landed document in Chief Agborma’s apartment. According to him, “Luck ran out on me as I was caught while breaking one of the windows of the house to gain access”.

The suspect who said he was dismissed from the Nigeria Police, appealed that he should be forgiven as having nothing to do pushed him to embark on such criminal act for money.

Some residents of the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said they disagree with Destiny Aliekwe’s claim that he was sent to steal a land document in Chief Agborma’s home since he could not provide the person that sent him, but they believe he has come to steal as everyone in the house has gone for Sunday service, the way many of the houses in the area are usually burgled.

The Commander of the Security Group, Mr. Friday Okoh expressed joy over the apprehension of Destiny Aliekwe whom he described as a hardened criminal. While buttressing the adage that says everyday is for the thief but one day for the owner of the house, stated that there is no hiding place for hoodlums in Agbor and its environs as they will apprehend and hand over to the police.

He assured that his team, the vigilante group is prepared to ride the area of crime in this ember season. He appealed that he should be called on the phone on time before the hoodlums get away. The security commander disclosed his phone number as 08130015268.
