Former Provost of the College of Education, Agbor and indigene of Agbor kingdom, Chief (Dr.) Emmanuel U. Tibi, has been appointed as Chairman of the Delta State Agricultural Development Agency.
The appointment of the erudite scholar was announced by the Governor of Delta State Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa who also congratulated the agency chairman, urging his members to faithfully implement the master plan to improve on the agricultural sector of the state.
Speaking with the press, Chief (Dr.) Tibi expressed gratitude to God and also thanked the governor for finding him worthy to serve in the capacity as chairman of the agency which he said was dear to the governor’s heart.
He described his appointment as a square peg in a square hole, saying that this was not the first time Sen. Dr. Okowa will be appointing him to serve.
He said, “I have served our amiable governor in similar capacity as Special Assistant then as Commissioner in charge of Agriculture and Natural Resources under Chief Onanefe Ibori’s administration even extended to when he (Okowa) became the Commissioner for Water Resources Development. So, I am sure that he was not disappointed in my roles which could have necessitated my appointment as Chairman of the State Agricultural Development Agency.
“There it is no doubt that agriculture is one of the key sector which Governor Okowa holds dearly to his heart for the provision of jobs for the youths. His SMART agenda is centred principally on it hence; he believes strongly that agriculture would be the route to realize his dream of an empowered Delta State. However, I am so excited about my appointment and I pray God to give us the where-withal to build on the strong dream the governor has for agriculture as a way of improving the overall economic growth of this state”.
The community leader while assuring that he will do his best to carry out the functions effectively used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Okowa on his 58th birthday anniversary.
His words, “while I respectfully express my profound gratitude to His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing me to this position, I also use this opportunity to congratulate him as he adds one zesty year to his age. May God continue to be your guard and guide even in your SMART agenda to lead Delta State to prosperity”.
