The Chairman, Ika South Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh during the commissioning of Edike market on Thursday 5th November, 2020 started clear that the council did not spend a dime in the construction of the market.
He disclosed that the market was built in collaboration with traders under a build and transfer arrangement, noting that the council did not contribute a dime in achieving what is known today as Edike market.
The Council Chairman, during his welcome address appreciated the people of Ika South for their support so far, particularly the party faithful of People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The Council boss expressed his gratitude to god and appreciated the traders for their corporation in ensuring that the reality of the existence of the market. He disclosed that the market is consist three thousand 31 lockup shops and two thousand (2000) open shops with two slaughter slabs and toilet facilities.
Continuing, he urged the beneficiaries of the market to co-operate with one another and maintain peaceful coexistence as they engage in their daily business activities and should abide by the terms and conditions which they has agreed to.
Furthermore, he appreciated the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeany Okowa and the Dein of Agbor kingdom, HRM Obi Benjamin Ikenchukwu for their support of his administration and ensuring that the market construction saw the light of day.

Also speaking at the occasion; the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Honourable Chika Ossai, during the commissioning commended Barrister Victor Okoh for the wonderful initiative of building a central market for the people of the local government.
He appreciated the Chairman and those behind the conceptualization and actualization of the gigantic market, which started peacefully and ended on a peaceful note. Hon. Ossai urged traders of the market not to trade on the street but rather should manage their spaces judiciously.
Continuing the commissioner advised the chairman and those in charge of the management of the market to ensure that the purpose of which the market is built should be actualized. He prayed God to grant the Council Chairman more wisdom to the lead the people.
