ENCOMIUM AS EGOSA 90’ BUILDS 5-SPACE SHOP FOR ALMA MATER
*Umunede Monarch Commissions Five Spaces Shop, lauds EGOSA 90’ Members
*Dr. Iyadi Urges Teachers, and Students to Cultivate Maintenance Culture

Jubilation and excitement among students of Ede Grammar School Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State rented the air following the official commissioning of a 5-space shop built by members of Ede Grammar School Old Students Association (EGOSA) 1990 set.
The exercise which was held on Friday, May 10, 2024, was said to have been witnessed by some members of EGOSA 90’, staff and students of the school, and others from the town.
The newly completed project was said to have been commissioned by the revered monarch of the Umunede Kingdom, HRM Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali 1(JP) alongside one of his chiefs.
Commissioning the project, HRM Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali 1 (JP) commended members of EGOSA 90’ for their foresight saying that the group has made the people of Umunede happy, especially the students and staff of the school.
The Obi, who was represented by some chiefs, affirmed that the look and feel of the five-space shop (food canteen) would create the natural stimulant for a healthy appetite, urging the staff and students of the school to make judicious use of the five-space shop.
He also stated that good food must be served in a hygienic, friendly, and cozy environment, Hence, the building of the five-space shop to serve that purpose.
HRM Dr, Ezeagwu Ezenwali 1 (JP) implored all to make good use of the shop and charged the students to make the best out of their studies, so that one day, they too can come back to their alma mater and replicate the same.
Earlier in his opening remark, the president of EGOSA 90’, Dr. Rollins Chiyem Iyadi appreciated and welcomed all present.
He stated that the initiative and need to build the 5- Spaces shops was borne out of the need to give back to their alma mater, saying that the decision to build the shop was unanimously made by EGOSA 990 members after perusing other proposals.
He recounted the difficulties they went through during their time in the school, saying that most times, the intensity of the sun and rainfall never allowed them to step out to buy food.
He added that the newly built five-space shop will contain five food vendors and will be convenient for teachers and students to buy and eat whatever has been sold to them.

Dr. Iyadi urged the staff and students to make good use of the shop and also cultivate a maintenance culture so that it could last long.
He enjoined the school authority to notify them whenever the need for a major renovation of the shop is needed in the future, saying that they will positively respond without hesitation.
In his address during the commissioning of the project, the principal of the school, Mr. Udubor Benedict expressed delight over the kind gesture of members of EGOSA 90’, saying that he is indeed overwhelmed with joy.
He especially thanked HRM Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali 1 (JP) for his moral support and unwavering commitment and the countless efforts he has shown to the school.
The principal also appreciated members of the Parents/Teachers Association for their numerous contributions towards the development of the school.
Mr. Udubor disclosed that since the establishment of Ede Grammar School in 1972, the school has recorded academic excellence, saying that final-year students of the school have continued to make impressive results in WAEC, and NECO BECE.
In infrastructural development, the principal revealed that the State Government and old students of the school have continued to provide support, saying that they (Old students) have been giving back to their alma mater in most wonderful ways.
He affirmed that EGOSA 1997 set, EGOSA 1984 and 1986 sets as well as EGOSA 1990 set have hugely contributed in various ways to the growth and development of the school, calling on other sets to register their names in their alma mater.
He disclosed that the National Body under the leadership of Mr. Henry Idama is currently renovating one of the old staff apartments which he said will be converted to a Corp Members’ Lodge upon completion.
