It was a sigh of relieve for the people of Owerre-Olubor as eleven among the hoodlums terrorizing the community were gunned down a week after their apprehension by a team of Eagle Net Squad and Anti-Cult group.
Ika Weekly gathered that the hoodlums had been terrorizing Owerre-Olubor and its environs for a very long time, They were said to be patrolling round the community molesting and collecting money and other valuables from the people at gun point.
A source from the community revealed that many people before now had relocated from Owerre-Olubor. Others who have nowhere to run to had accommodated their evils by keeping silent for the fear of being killed. The hoodlums were said to be in charge of the collection of levies during their market days as well as dictating whatever goes on in Owerre-Olubor.
The hoodlums however met their waterloo when a crack team of Eagle Net Squad and Anti-Cult group stormed their hideout at Owerre-Olubor at about 1am Wednesday, April 11, 2018, apprehending nine of the gang members. Earlier before their arrest, the Chairman of Owerre-Olubor Youths and one other person who also formed part of the gang were arrested. When the security outfit invaded their hideout, it was said that five guns, a battle axe and live cartridges were discovered. The gang leader, popularly called Baba Esmo who has been declared “WANTED” by the police for the murder of one Marco months ago, escaped as the security agents stormed their hideout.
The people of Owere-Olubor thanked the security and expressed their joy over the killing of the hoodlums, but said that their joy will not be complete until all the members of the gang were brought to book, revealing that Baba Esmo and some other members of his gang are still parading the community, threatening that hell will let loose as two of his brothers and other members of his gang have been killed.
