It is no longer news that an Ika born youngster based in Alabama, USA, Ezekiel Osiele has like other Delta State produced soccer legends such as Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Victor Ikpeba, promised to use his God-given talent and abilities to further showcase the values and quality of Delta State, where his parents hail from, as he wants to make top marks in his chosen career at home and abroad.

What is, however, heartening and deserves commendation in this episode is that apart from putting Ezekiel Osiele soccer exploits in the United States on the spotlight, the weekly tabloid Ika Weekly Newspaper and of course its publisher, Mr. Steve Ekiri-Mekiriuwa Ashien has made it part of the organizations’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to providing adequate information to all well-meaning Ika indigenes both home and abroad.
But, going by commentaries, extending such support to people appears to be Mr Steve Ekiri-Mekiriuwa Ashien’s trademark, as people testified that he is reputed for performing such responsibility to humanity in general and Ika indigenes in particular.
As captured by a prominent Ika indigene; Ashien has been a very hardworking man, a principled man with high integrity and whatever he believes in, he ensures that he carries it out to the latter, irrespective of the prevailing challenges. He is kind to people, he is a giver. And many people are praying for him every day, no wonder! God restored him after all the challenges he faced.

As we celebrate Ezekiel Osiele and pray for success in his quest to conquer the soccer world, it is also important to congratulate Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the resounding victory recorded recently at the  National Youth Games – a record fourth time in Ilorin, Kwara State last weekend.
Also, as the State will on October 1st roll out the red carpet for the State’s athletes and officials, who made history by winning the National Youth Games, it will be highly rewarding if the likes of Ezekiel Osiele doing the State proud abroad are invited as a way of giving them the much needed morale boost.
