A 46-year-old man and indigene of Owa-Oyibu Community in Ika Northeast Local Government Area of Delta, Mr. Victor Idiniuwe, has allegedly murdered his 17-year-old son, Ifechukwude Victor for not respecting him as a father.
Briefing Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter during his visit to the bereaved family compound in Owa-Oyibu, the mother of the deceased, Mrs. Evelyn Idiniuwe said her husband has been threatening to deal with the young boy, complaining that he does not respect him as his biological father.
Explaining, she said, “In the morning of Friday, February 18, 2022, I left home for farm and on getting close to the house while returning from the farm, I started hearing people’s voices, saying, catch him, catch him, in my mind I taught maybe they were chasing dog or goat; unknown to me that my husband, brought some boys, about five of them to kill my innocent child,” she said.
Speaking further, she disclosed that a few hours after Victor and his gang have succeeded taking her son away, they returned him to her in the house in a pool of blood, bleeding all over his ears and mouth, with his two eyes closed. She said all she did was to rush him to the hospital through the help of my neighbors, but unfortunately, he died while receiving treatment.
Mrs. Idiunuwe revealed that her husband is nowhere to be found ever since the information got to him that his son is dead. She noted that what surprised her is that she cannot find any of the Ifechukwude’s photographs that used to fly everywhere in the house, as her husband has taken all of them from the house, before running away.
Speaking, she described her late son as an obedient and respectful child, while calling on the attention of the Police, Human Rights Activists and other appropriate authorities to help look into the matter, praying to the God of vengeance to fight for her and grant her son’s gentle soul, eternal rest.
