FIRST IKA INDIGENOUS BISHOP SETS FOR CONSECRATION

The first Ika born Bishop-Elect of the Diocese of Ika, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Venerable Godfrey Ifeanyi Ekpenisi will, by God’s grace, be consecrated as the First Ika indigenous Bishop of the Diocese at a consecration ceremony on Friday, November 16, this year (2018).

The information was contained in a release by the Diocesan Adviser I, Dr. Chief Obi Chiejile on behalf of the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Revd. Dr. Peter Imhona Onekpe (JP).

Rt. Revd. Dr. Peter Imhona Onekpe said that Ven. Godfrey Ifeanyi Ekpenisi would be consecrated at the Cathedral Church of St. Bartholomew, Diocese of Kubwa, in Capital Territory, Abuja in the ceremony that would be performed by the College of Anglican Bishops, under the behest of the Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, His Grace, Most Revd. Dr. Nicholas Dikenriehi Okoh.

Ven. Ekpenisi when consecrated would succeed the Irekpai, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State born Bishop, Rt. Revd Dr. Peter Imhona Onekpe who was enthroned on September 14, 2001 as the Pioneer Bishop of Ika Diocese.

The Bishop-elect would be enthroned in the Cathedral Church of Ascension in Ika Grammar School premises, Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State in December, this year (2018).

Meanwhile, the Pioneer Bishop would be in the Cathedral Church of St. Bartholomew to join the college of bishops for the consecration ceremony of the Bishop-Elect while the Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. John, Agbor, Ven. Pat Onyeka Okoh would lead the clergy and laity from Ika Diocese to witness the consecration ceremony that has been scheduled for November 16.

It is believed that a cream of who is who of Ika nation especially from Agbor would throng the Cathedral Church of Bartholomew to watch the consecration of their son, the Bishop-Elect, Ven. Godfrey Ifeanyi Ekpenisi.
