The Legislative Arm of Ika South Local Government Council has suspended indefinitely, five councilors over violation of house rules by engaging in violence. The suspension was issued at a sitting of twelve legislators at the legislative chambers of the Council on Wednesday 26th September 2018.
The motion for the suspension of the IKA SOUTH LG Legislators who broke the rules of the house by retorting to violence, the deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Lucky Iduh stated that going by the house rules, anyone who breaks the law, pays a penalty hence their suspension.
Following the motion seconded by Hon. Godwin Edobor, a five man disciplinary committee was set up by the leader of the house, Hon. Evans Ughe to carry out further investigation.
The five man committee comprising, Hon. Godwin Edobor, Chairman, Hon. Blessing Ogbewi, Secretary, Hon. Solomon Igudia, member, Hon. Evelyn Efe, Member, Hon. Member are expected to begin work with immediate effect.
By the suspension, the suspendered Councillors; Hon. Jerome Ozakpolor (Ward 4), Hon. Sylvester Igwe (ward 5), Hon. Happy Onyeacholem (ward 8), Hon. Israel Obaye (ward 9) and Hon. Iku Sunday (ward 18) are to miss house sitting pending further investigations by the disciplinary committee.
Further investigations revealed that the rancour caused by the suspended councilors is connected to some political leaders in the Local Government, ahead of the Primary of the Peoples Democratic Part in October.

Solomon Igudia Deputy Majority Leader, (ward 3), Hon. Akowukwu, Chief Whip (ward 13), Hon. Felix Ebuledom, (ward 2), Hon. Chido Oseh, (ward 15), Hon. Blessing Ogbewi, (ward 14), Hon. Dorathy Odimegwu, (ward 12), Hon. Evelyn Efe, (ward 7), Hon. Benefit Uwozia, (ward 17) and Hon. Godwin Edobor, (ward 10)
