GOVERNOR OKOWA, FIRST VISITOR OF UNIDEL, AGBOR

The Governor of Delta State, His Excellence Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Saturday May 20th, 2023, was robbed and installed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor, UNIDEL, Professor, Mrs. Stella Chiemeke and the Registrar, Richmond Omagbemi, as the Founder and First Visitor of UNIDEL, during the school Founder’s Day and ceremony to mark the 2nd anniversary of the school.

Addressing the audience, the Pro-Chancellor, Emmanuel Nwanzi, noted that the roping of the Governor, is an honor and acknowledgement of his role in the educational sector, saying that investing in education, is investing in the lives of the generation yet unborn. He appreciated the governor for that he has well for the school.

The Vice Chancellor applauded Governor Okowa, for his developmental strides in the state especially in the educational sector and for ensuring the establishment of UNIDEL, Agbor, describing Okowa as an uncommon achiever.

According to her, “I appreciate and welcome our visionary founding fathers and mothers, who worked tirelessly towards the establishment of the University, transforming the land into a striving center for academy, innovation and research.

“We pay homage to our founding students, who were the first pillars of this university. Our present and future students stand on their shoulders.

“I appreciate all those who worked towards the establishment of this great institution, the speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and the Governor-elect, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, we congratulate you on your successful outing and your emergence as the governor of the state in the just concluded election.

“It was not an easy task kick-starting the school as the first Vice Chancellor, but all thanks to Okowa, whose role made the task easy”, she said.

While disclosing that the C.E.O of Zenith Bank, Ebenize Onyaeikgwu, has approved the building of a multi-million Naira information and communication technology center, she appealed to other well-meaning individuals, organizations and spirited bodies to support the school, saying that the school is fast expanding.

The Governor while speaking noted that the establishment of the University has made admission easier and has brought education nearer to the people, saying that while were on strike, the three universities in Delta State were very much on ground.

The guest speaker of the celebration, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, appreciated all for gracing the occasion and called on the management to work in synergy with the army.
