A widow and native of Owa-Alero Community in Ika Northeast Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs. Gladys Omobude has appealed to the Delta State Government, led by Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi A. Okowa, to come to her aid by helping to tar the road leading to her house, located along Peace Street by Power-line, off Iwezue Lane, Boji-Boji, Owa, Delta State, to savage the building given to her by her daughter from the grip of gully erosion.
Speaking, Mrs. Omobude disclosed that some years ago, after the death of her husband, her daughter told her that she was building the house for her so she will give it to tenants in order to earn a living.
According to her,” my daughter, after building the house, handed the keys of the whole four flats to me, saying that she does not want me to suffer since their father, was no more, but unknown to us that Government will not remember us,” she said.
Continuing, she stated that since six years ago she and other occupants of the areas noticed the effects of the gully erosions, saying that they have been making efforts to reach out to the Government through social media, newspaper publications, letters, and other means of communication, but said all efforts made so far were to no avail. While appealing to Governor Okowa for urgent attention to the Street, Mrs. Omobude mentioned that she attended the same Siemence Primary School? which is now known Iroro Primary School with Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa in Owa-Alero, stressing that at that time, Ifeanyi Okowa was in the junior class.
In addition, the widow pointed out that she has spent a huge amount of money to repair the road so that her only means of putting food on her tablet will not go down. She stated that it has become very obvious that if nothing is done before the next rainy season commences, the building might collapse as it has been ravaged by the gully erosion that is as deep as the one that used to exist at Uboh, Midomer Streets in Boji-Boji Owa metropolis.
Concluding, she thanked the Governor for the good works he is doing since he became too popular in world politics, praying God to continue to bless him and his family as he looks forward to his doing justice to her request.
