AN HAUSA MAN APPOINTED SUPERVISORY COUNCILLOR IN IKA NORTH EAST

The Executive Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area Council, Hon. Monday Hunkamma Odigwe, inaugurated the newly appointed Supervisory Councillors, and among them is a Nigerian of northern extraction and leader in Hausa community, Danlami Abubakar, the Supervisory Councillor on Agriculture.

Others include, Unah Onyeisi, Supervisory Councillor on Environment, Nwajei Michael, Supervisory Councillor on Education, Ordih Stanley, Supervisory Councillor on Special Duties while Nwokolo Onyebuchi, Supervisory Councillor on Community Development respectively.

Hon. Odigwe, in his inaugural speech, charged the appointed supervisory councilors to make the welfare of Ika North East people paramount as they discharge their duty.

While congratulating them for well-deserved appointments in bringing their wealth of experience to the local government council in human management and local government administration, the Council boss enjoined them to endeavor to work harmoniously within the law that established the local government administration.

Continuing, he further charged them not to be involved in negative activities, admonishing that only a harmonious working relationship between the supervisors with the political class and civil servants in the local government council will bring the desired result to his administration.

“In all, I want to assure that my office is wide open for consultation and advice on issues for the smooth and effective running of the local government council toward growth and development”, he added.

Hon. Odigwe further assured that his administration’s commitment is to focus on security, environmental sanitation, human and infrastructural development, and the overall well-being of the good people of Ika North East LGA.

Responding on behalf of the Supervisory Councillors, Mr. Stanley Ordih pledged their unflinching support to work in synergy with the Council Chairman to actualize his administration goals.

While further stating that they are in for development, Mr. Ordih appreciated Hon. Odigwe and the leaders of their great party (PDP) for finding them worthy of the appointment.

Speaking in an interview, with our reporter, the Supervisory Councillor on Agriculture, Alhaji Abubakar, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Hausa Community in Ika North East Local Government, expressed joy over his appointment, promising to work in moving the local government council forward.

According to him, “I was born and brought up in Ika North East LGA even though my parents migrated from Zaria in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Politically, I have paid my dues and my appointment has given the Hausa Community in Ika North East a sense of belonging to be more active in the politics of the day”.

Alhaji Abubakar appreciated the leadership of PDP in Ika North East LGA for finding him worthy of the appointment while disclosing that he is the first person from the Hausa community to be given such an appointment in the council area.

On his part, Mr. Onyeisi Unah from Ward Six ( Owa Ofie) in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State said his inauguration as the Supervisory Councillor on Environment marked one of the happiest days in his life and promised to be obedient and loyal in the discharge of his administrative duty.

While speaking on his commitment and preparedness to serve the people of Ika North East, Mr. Unah appreciated the council Chairman, the PDP leaders among whom he said include the former Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon. Chuks Agbomah, Deacon Moses Iduh and the former Council Chairman and Hon. Victor Ebonka, aka Alan K for the honour of his appointment. He pledged that he would use his position to work in synergy with the Executive Chairman, in making the Local Government Area in the State, one of  the best.
