I WILL DISCHARGE MY DUTIES WITH SINCERITY – Ebie pledges

Barr. Chiedu Ebie, the newly inaugurated Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Delta State, on Wednesday, 5th June, 2019 reiterated his commitment to discharging his duties with all sincerity, dedication, absolute loyalty and high level of professionalism expected of him.

While addressing illustrious Sons and Daughters of Ika Nation at the lunch party organized by Gen. Nick Agbogun (rtd) at his residence, Ime-obi, Agbor, to celebrate the inauguration of Barr. Chiedu Ebie as Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Ebie thanked everyone for coming to celebrate him.

Speaking further, he said, “In 2015 when I was appointed the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, I met some of the elders here. They took me as their son and supported me. So I said to myself, if I must be reappointed into Gov. Okowa’s regime for the second term, it must be purely by merit. I thank the people of Ika South for the support. I also thank God for giving me the enablement, wisdom, strength and good health to discharge my duties in the last four years”. see also: THE SINS OF OUR GOVERNOR By Danphidel Akpenyi

Continuing, he said “As we go forward, it is time for us to unite and be tolerant. It is incumbent on every one of us to see that there is a future. We must always ensure we do the right thing. For me, any assignment given to me, I will always ensure that it is fair and just before I consider it. Be rest assured that the Chiedu you know four years ago will be the same Chiedu you will know”.

Concluding, he said, “I am looking forward to working with whoever it is in Ika South that will be appointed Commissioner. I assure you that I will discharge my duties with all sincerity, dedication and absolute loyalty”

Gen. Nick Agbogun, in his welcome address, felicitated with Ebie, adding that he was moved to convene the meeting as a way of celebrating the appointment of Barr. Ebie as the SSG.

In the same vein, Pa John Nwagimejen, Ika South elder Statesman speaking commended Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for fulfilling the promise he made to Ika South LGA few years ago.

Continuing, he disclosed that Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa had stated, some few years ago that good things would come to Ika South, stressing that those who believed it went into prayer anticipating such good things, saying that it has finally come to fruition.

Speaking also, Dr. Festus Okubor advised Ika people to be mindful of how they approach the office of the SSG adding that the fall of many high ranking officers is because of their people.

His words, “Ika people will be undoing him if we inadvertently or inadvisably attempt to access that office as Ika or Agbor office. We will be putting him under pressure. We must give him space to concentrate on the work. Let us give him the opportunity to succeed”.

Also lending their voices in felicitating with Barr. Ebie at the event were, Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, Col. G.O. Eboma (rtd), Chief John Ehikwe, Hon. Evang. Cordilia Anyangwu. Mr. Larry E. Onyeche and Mr. Ojeme Monday.

Dignitaries at the event were Hon. Victor Okoh, Chairman, Ika South L.G.A; Chief Alhaji Odije Yusuf, the Odafin-Akaeze of Abavo kingdom; Chief James Aziken, the Osolobue Ehikwe of Agbor kingdom; Elder Dan Usifoh, Head, Collective Leadership of Onu-Ika Nigeria; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ashien, Publishers, Ika Weekly Newspaper; Chief (Mrs.) Mary Agbogwe and many others.

The highpoint of the event was the lavish entertainment of guests with mouth watering dishes coupled with the serene environment and melodious rendition by the DJ.
