IKA LAND WILL SOON BE A NOLLYWOOD TOWN—Comrade Edoki

The National President of Nollywood Golden Awards, and an indigence of Agbor, Comrade Percy Monday Edoki, has envisaged that Ika land will in no distant time become a Nollywood town.
Comr. Edoki stated this recently when Top Nigeria Nollywood Stars and actresses from Benin Republic and Cameroun stormed Agbor, Headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State to participate in the long awaited Nollywood Golden Awards and Lectures held at Ika National Hall, Agbor.
The event sponsored by Calvary Evangelical Films Outreach (CEFO) was greeted with joy particularly for the people of Ika nation as they had the privilege of meeting some of the top movie actresses like Rita Edochie, Camilla Mgbekpere popularly known as “Mma Eko”, Director Ugezu J. Ugezu and a host of others.
Comr. Edoki who doubles as CEFO President explained that the aim of the programme was to have Ika land and its people to be more integrated in Nollywood, saying that the outcome would also encourage development by way of reducing unemployment considering the fact that Ika people are friendly and accommodating.
He further explained that Nollywood believes that government cannot alone give jobs to her citizens, hence, it will make impact by assisting to give employment to youths and also men and women in the society.
According to him, “the reason why the programme was held in Agbor was because Agbor is blessed with location both for epic, glamour and contemporary movies. It is a center place where firm business would be achieved and thereby pleaded with producers and directors of the Nollywood to always come down to Agbor for their film making as all required for film produce are in Agbor.”
Speaking further, Comrade Edoki appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the good people of Ika land to support film industries in Ika land positing that there is need to build an epic village at Agbor-Nta where most of their films produced were shot. He added that with the support to build the epic village, it will attract more producers and directors will be attracted to do their business in Agbor just as he observed that about 70 percent of movies produced in Nigeria are done in Delta State.
During the event, some of the actors, Camilla Mgbekpere spoke on how a female actor can be decent in Nollywood while Chief Ugezu Ugezu J. also spoke on roles and qualifications to be a member of the Nollywood industry. Also Dr. Donald Peterson, philanthropist from Agbor ably represented by Dr. Best Ogala, Head of Department College of Education, Agbor educated the guests on the issue he titled as “Nollywood the catalyst to National Economy”.
Others who attended the event were political leaders from Ika land among who are Sir Tony Obuh, Hon. John Nwagimeje, Amb. Paul Alika, Hon. Patience Onyeson, Mrs. Cecilia Ogbonyei, Hon. Godwin Ezedom, Chief Dannis Araro, Barr. Victor Okah, Mr. Vincent Arimokwu, Clergymen and youths from different Ika communities.
Over 40 awards were presented to recipients among whom are Governors from Anambra, Abia, Delta State, while others include actors and actresses, political leaders, financial institutions, companies and churches.
Comrade Edoki also bagged the most active producer of the year 2017 award.
