Ika North East Local Government Area council has during its exco meeting held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 awarded the construction of Boji-Boji main market popularly called Garage to Graceland Channels Limited as public-private partnership (PPP).
Speaking, the Chairman, Ika North East Council, Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka stated that construction of the Boji-Boji main market to international standard was long overdue, being the biggest market in Ika nation. According to him, “No doubt, if this project finally comes to reality, it will boost the area’s Internal Generating Revenue (IGR).
Hon. Ebonka appealed to the Managing Director/CEO of Graceland Channels Limited, Pastor Nath Omoruyi not to fail them, but make sure that he delivers by specification: Three Hundred and Fourteen (314) open shops and Four hundred and forty-eight (448) lock up stores.
The chairman appealed to traders to evacuate and relocate to areas provided for business for the meantime, saying that the construction/upgrading of the market is for the good of entire Ika nation.
Speaking with journalists, Pastor Nath Omoruyi who assured of quality job said that the project which is expected to last for two years will in no distant time be completed. According to him, “It’s a PPP project, therefore, my company; Graceland Channels Limited will fund it 100%. We will commence immediately the trader evacuate their shanties.

“The idea of Boji-Boji main market to be constructed to the level of modern/international market is a welcome development that is long overdue considering its existence and strategic location. The traders were indeed filled with joy when the news was made known to them and they are cooperating. For the traders to be carried along, the chairman has set up market union committee so that their individual interest will be made known.
“Since I am married to an Ika woman and automatically I am a member of Ika community, the project will take a different beautiful look also as a way to thank my in-laws for the beautiful and good wife given to me.”
