The General Overseer, Divine Faith Evangelical Mission International, Agbor, Prophet Joseph Igbodo, has called on the leaders of Onu Ika Nigeria, Ika Village Square and major stakeholders in Ika nation to geared towards educating indigenes of Ika extraction both home and in the Diaspora, on the need to invest wisely in developing Ika land, saying that having a radio and television station in the area is one of such laudable investments.
Prophet Igbodo, who is also the Proprietor of Job Orphanage Home and Proprietor of St. Stephen’s Trust Widows Home, all in Agbor, made the call recently at his church headquarters along Charles Street, Agbor, during an interactive session with newsmen. He frowned at the snail pace of development within Boji-Boji Metropolis and its environs. According to the man of God, the level of development in Ika nation is very low, mostly in the area of investments. He noted that there are no industries in Ika land, where able bodied youths could be employed to earn a living, emphasizing that erecting state of the art houses and buying flashy cars worth millions of naira are not investments. Continuing, he enjoined well-to-do Ika Sons and daughters both at home and in foreign countries to bring their resources and establish companies and industries in Ika Land.
Speaking further he emphasized on the need of Ika Land to have a broadcasting house, and explained that most residents of Ika Nation are always in the dark about most of the laudable activities of the state governor in Asaba, the State Capital and other council areas of Delta State, because they are not getting the services of Delta radio and television stations in most communities in the area. He charged ministers of God to intensify their prayers, for the rapid development of Ika Land, saying that if we have a radio and television stations, it will give preachers of the gospel the privilege to reach out to a larger audience apart from their congregation, while the businessmen and women will have the opportunities to advertise their goods and services to their target audience.
Prophet Igbodo, also frowned at the situation where, there is no Ika person that owns trailers, nor an individual who is a transporter who owns fleets of fifty to One Hundred buses; like what is obtainable in neighbouring Edo State, noting that transportation industry is lacking in Agbor and its environs.
He also expressed dismay that there are no intercity bus services; rather than, Okada being used as town service, explaining that during rainy season Okada riders are usually out of the road, leaving the commuters stranded. Continuing, he thanked God for the giant strides of His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who has constructed good road networks in Ika Land, hence nobody will complain of the area, not having motorable roads; for town services to operate.
Prophet Igbodo, in the same vein, encouraged the masses to invest in Asphalt production, Industrial Equipment, like graders, tractors and other vehicles that can be hired for agricultural use, he also suggested for people to invest in Bakery business and other such lucrative ventures that will create employment opportunities through which the masses can take care of themselves and their families.
Finally, he appealed passionately to Ika indigenes to beam their search light towards the above highlighted areas to invest in, in order to enhance the growth of Ika nation and the sustainable development of the people.
