Following the commissioning of the protracted Old Lagos Asaba road project by the Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Chairman, Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh has lauded the giant strides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Ika South and Delta State at Large.
Speaking to Newsmen shortly after the commissioning on Monday 19th November 2018, the Chairman noted that the people of both Local Governments, Ika South and Ika North East are elated by the newly completed road, having been delayed for a long time.

He stated that the economic importance of the road, boasted with the installation of solar powered street lights which according to him lights up the roads at night, cannot be quantified. He vowed that as the Council Chairman, he will ensure that the road is properly maintained, saying that he has been ensuring its maintenance through sweeping and other measures employed, especially during the monthly sanitation exercise.
Earlier in his welcome address, he on behalf of the People of Ika South appreciated Chief Obasanjo for coming all the way to Agbor to commission the project, declaring that the laudable project has helped to control the perennial flooding in Boji-Boji metropolis which has been a challenge in time past.
He stated that “the good people of Ika South Local Government are indeed very grateful to you for the massive road constructions in the area and across the entire State. While we appreciate you for the journey so far, we wish to employ the proverbial adage of Oliver Twist, we need more”.
He emphatically appreciated the Governor for the full payment of salaries owed Local government workers and Primary School Teachers/
“For all the laudable projects and development initiatives you have brought across the Local Government, the entire people of Ika South Local Government are behind you and we pledge our unalloyed support and loyalty to your purposeful leadership and that of the former President of Nigeria,” he said.
Speaking further, he reiterated that Ika South people are proud of the Governor’s enviable achievements, stating that they have implicit confidence in his ability to steer the State to greater heights in the next four years.
He further called on Ika South people to appreciate what they have by putting in their collective efforts to ensure the durability of the road.
