As the calendar indicates 100 days since the local government chairmen in Delta state assumed office, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Barr Victor Okoh has presented a draft of 2018 budget to the legislative Area.
He made the presentation during a sitting of the house at the Legislative chamber which began by 10am on Thursday 19th April, 2018.
The 2018 budget which has a total size of Two Billion, Six Hundred and Seventy Three Million, Five Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand, eighty six naira, sixty nine kobo (N2,677,543,086.69), has a marginal increase of 19.15% compared to the previous year’s approved budget.
The budget is expected to be financed by revenues from internal and external sources and it encapsulates: expenditures, remuneration of political office holders, salaries of local government staff, salaries of teaching and non teaching primary school staff, over head cost, amongst other cost.
The total budgeted recurrent expenditure is pegged at N 2,329,800,500.0786.96, while budgeted capital expenditure is pegged at N 348, 742, 386, 6913.04 and the total recurrent and capital expenditure budget is N 2,673,843,086.69100. Presenting a copy of the draft to the Leader of the house, Hon. Evans Ughe he expressed hope that the budget will receive a speedy consideration by the house.
In the absence of objections from members of the House, the Chairman was granted his leave by the Speaker, with a promise to revert after due consideration of the budget.
Hon. Okoh presented the 2018 budget in company of his Vice, Hon. Patience Agboma, the secretary, Barr. Solomon Kosunaye, HPM, Mr. J. N. Okonta, the TLG, Mr. Dominic Ijeh, Heads of all departments, Supervisors and other aides.
