IKA SOUTH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN SHOULD BE RETAINED IN ABAVO, FOR FAIRNESS AND EQUITY , Says IPA
A socio-cultural group on Sunday, February 4th, 2024, under the platform of Indigenous People of Abavo, IPA, held a strategic session in Ogbe-Obi, Abavo Central, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, to deliberate on very important issues.
The over six hours intercourse of ideas centered on Political engagement and patronages, insecurity, infrastructure, growth and Development, unemployment and other socioeconomic challenges affecting the ancient Abavo kingdom.
The convener of the historic session and Director-General, Across Partylines for Tata Go Again 2024, Engr. Tony Jombo, FNIWE popularly known as ‘D General’ moved the motion urging the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, P.D.P and all Political parties to retain the position of Ika South Local Government Council Chairman in Abavo Kingdom in the spirit of equity and fairness.
The motion was seconded by the President, Abavo Rinma Youths Association, Comrade Akoh Samson (Igbeigbe) and was unanimously adopted by the general assembly. The session equally resolved to initiate convivial interactive session with critical Stakeholders across all Communities in Ika South Local Government Area for the actualization of the project.
They applauded the leadership and members of Ihu-iyase Political Forum, Okowa and Sheriff Movement, Ika South Political Youth Forum, Onu Kokome of Abavo , Abavo Youths Political Forum, Awareness Group for Equity, Across Party lines for Tata Go Again 2024 amongst others, for their patriotic call and support for the next Ika South Council Chairman to come from Abavo.
The duo of Engr. Jombo and Comrade Akoh while addressing the teeming members of Indigenous People of Abavo, IPA, implored all stakeholders to key into the Abavo for Ika South Council Chairman Agenda positing that when somebody chooses another person should be allowed to choose.
“Truth is stronger than fiction. Agbor has House of Assembly, Commissioner, Special Adviser, DSIEC Commissioner, Chairman, Post Primary Education Board, P.D.P Chairman, 2 Members of State Advisory Board amongst others.
“Abavo is left with only DESOPADEC Board Member. Our call for the Council Chairmanship Seat to be retained in Abavo is for fairness, justice, equity and harmonious coexistence. We will continue to engage our brothers and sisters from Agbor Kingdom to see reason with us because the rotation of elective positions between the two Kingdoms have continue to breed peaceful coexistence for decades.
The rotational arrangement should be sustained. Kudos to our foremost Leader, Sen, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa (CON), the Pathfinder, and author of Good Governance for Equity and Fairness Across Delta State. To our Pan Delta Governor, Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, the harvest of projects through your M. O. R. E Agenda is already dotting the landscape of the big heart State of Delta”, they said.
