It is exactly six months and some days since a new Local Government Administration led by the Chairman, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh was inaugurated at the State Government House Asaba on the 8th of January 2018.
In this regard, the Executive Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh whose drive is to deliver the mandate given to him by the good people of Ika South, on his assumption of office swung into action to observe and identify the peculiar problems in various Communities in the Local Government Area, and on identifying such problems, swung into action. In his six months in office, some of the following have been achieved.
FURNISHING OF OFFICES IN THE COUNCIL
On his assumption of office, the offices of the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Council were lacking of office semblance. The shambolic and unbefitting office was the first point of call for Barr. Okoh as he furnished the offices to an office standard with full office Executive tables and chairs. The furnishing in due time will go round the offices at the Council.
CLEARING OF WASTE DUMP AT ABAVO GENERAL MARKET, ABAVO
Following the deplorable and sorry state of Abavo market, before his assumption of office, caused by heaps of refuse that besieged the market, Barr. Okoh made it a point of duty to come to the aid of the traders in the market by clearing the dumps and giving the market a face lift. He also planted trees to beautify the market and give shade to traders in due time.
RESTORATION OF BEDC ELECTRICITY (POWER) TO THE COUNCIL
Upon his assumption of office, the Council Boss mended fences with BEDC by reconnecting the Council back to power supply and offsetting the backlog of outstanding bills inherited by his administration.
EMPOWERMENT OF THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED IN IKA SOUTH As a way of ensuring an all inclusive government, and a way of empowering the handicapped ones, Barr. Okoh a month into his administration handed over the maintenance of Ika National Hall to members of the physically challenged in Ika South Local government.
ISSUANCE OF FREE CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN TO THE DEAF AND DUMB INDIGENES OF IKA SOUTH
In continuation of his quest to reach out to the less privileged and challenged indigenes of Ika South, Hon. Okoh gave out Certificate of origin to members of the deaf and dumb association in Ika South, for free.
CLEARING OF REFUSE DUMP AT C.T.C MARKET, AGBOR
Hon. Okoh came to the aid of CTC traders who heaved a sigh of relief, by clearing the market which was turned into a dumpsite by the traders and those living around the market.
CLEARING OF APPROVED DUMP SITE, AGBOR
To ensure a proper waste disposal method by Private Sector Participants who are the only authorized persons to visit and dispose dirt at the approved dump site, the council boss approved and also supervised the clearing of the local government approved dump site.
HOSTING OF CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION IN IKA SOUTH
Barr. Victor Okoh hosted this year Children’s day celebration on the 27th of May 2018, bringing back the age long tradition which was almost going into extinction.
SIGNING OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT BILLS INTO LAW
Before his assumption of office, Ika South was without a law guiding the traffic situation in the Local Government. Under his watch, a Bill was promulgated and signed into Law in the presence of stake holders from all facets in the Local Government.
EMPLOYMENT OF OVER 100 IKA SOUTH YOUTHS INTO VARIOUS COMMITTEES
Over 100 youths have been employed by the local government into various taskforces to ensure that sanity is restored in the Local Government. The task forces grouped into Environmental, Traffic, New building, Street naming and others have provided jobs for youths in the local government, as promised by the Council Boss.

The Council Boss presented the 2018 budget at a sitting of Ika South Legislative Arm.
RENDERING OF FINANCIAL AID TO SOME LESS PRIVILEGED ONES IN IKA SOUTH
Hon. Victor Okoh in his usually manner has continued to render financial assistance to Ika South people who troop to his office in need of finances to offset hospital bills and other health related issues.
PROJECTS IN THE PIPELINE
In his bid to leave a legacy and leave the Local Government better than he met it, despite the financial constrain in the Local Government, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh has set plans in motion to achieve the following capital intensive long term projects; Building of a world class ultra modern Market within Boji-Boji Metropolis, building of a befitting modern park to help   decongestion of roads within the local Government. Barr. Okoh is also working assiduously to ensure the Local Government does not only attain greater heights, but also leave his name in the sands of time through some long standing projects.
