There was wide jubilation at the Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Ika South chapter recently, as the member representing the constituency in the House of Assembly, Delta State, Hon. Festus Okoh, empowered the party hierarchies with gift items.
Hon. Festus Okoh, Chairman, House Committee on Commerce and Industry popularly known as ‘Chuky Dandy’ shared not less than four (4) cars, forty four (44) 6.5KVA power generating sets, and over 130 pieces of wrappers and head ties among the party LGA executives, youth leaders and the women leaders drawn from the twelve federal Wards of the local government.
It could be recalled that and last week, the honourable member shared twelve (12) motorcycles to the party Ward chairmen and had also sponsored over Sixty youths abroad, gave education grants, scholarships and also secured admission for students.
The empowerment was witnessed by leaders and stakeholders of the party among whom are; the LGA party chairman, Hon. Collins Bello, Member of the State Advisory Council, Pa John Nwagimeje, Col. Godwin Eborma (rtd) and the Delta North PDP Chairman, Hon. Moses Iduh, who on behalf of the philanthropist, Hon. Okoh, presented the keys of a convertible Audi 4 car to one of the beneficiaries, Hon. Andrew Agwaze.
During the presentation, Hon. Iduh described the effort of Hon. Okoh as selfless, saying that he has done noble to prove his capacity and has as well contributed to further bring the prosperity agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to bear.
On his part, the Ika South Chairman of PDP, Hon. Collins Bello, eulogized Chuky Dandy for putting smiles on the faces of the party leaders. He described the initiative as a reward of hardwork and commitment to duty,using the opportunity to advise advising other party faithful to always be of good conduct and remain dedicated to the party.
Speaking with the press shortly after the presentation, Chuky Dandy explained that he deemed it necessary to empower leaders of the party hierarchy in Ika South because they have been of good faith since he started empowering others.
According to him, “This is just my little way of saying thank you to them for their efforts towards moving the party forward.”
In another development, Festus Chukwuyem Okoh who said he abhorred negative criticism, and expressed sadness to the allegation that he has not been active in the legislative house. He explained that he had single handedly moved four motions and also cosponsored twelve bills, as well as attracted construction of seven roads in the constituency.
“I did not say people should not criticize but their criticism should be constructive. For me, I have fulfilled all my campaign promises and I will remain focus in order to do more for my people if given another opportunity,” he added.
On his take on the “One man, One vote” recently launched by the political top notch of the All Progressives Congress in Ika South, Chief Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Hon. Okoh said he was not going to discuss another party other than his party, PDP, assuring that come 2019, his leader, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, will be re-elected to serve his second tenure as what is being seen on ground was unprecedented.
Festus Okoh concluded by congratulating the beneficiaries of his empowerment programmes, thereby encouraging them and others to always have faith in the party.
Other beneficiaries of two Mercedes Benz cars and a Toyota Camry include, Mr. Smart Ojegbefume, Amechi Ehi Matthew and a PDP LGA leader. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hon. Andrew Agwase said they were surprised at the announcement of their names to get the cars, adding that the philanthropist has also done a noble thing to rekindle their confidence in him. He thanked Festus Chukwuyem Okoh and wished him success in all his political aspirations.
