Mr. Victor Ejimunkwonye Akpebi a businessman has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention committee chairman in the just concluded PDP Presidential Primaries which took place in Port-Harcourt, the River State capital recently.
Speaking with newsmen during an interactive session at his office, the Managing Director of Cytecho Global Communication, Owa, while extolling the matured way the PDP convention was organized appreciated the leadership of the party for giving opportunities to some members of the physically challenged to also be among the party delegates that voted at the convention, saying that it really shows that the party truly have the intention of carrying everybody along. Continuing, he said he is not a politician but will give kudos to the PDP and our amiable governor, Dr. Okowa, who did his best in ensuring that the election was conducted free, and fair and in a peaceful manner.
He said he was very impressed to see that immediately after the primaries, the contestants that lost congratulated the winner, in the spirit of true sportsmanship, saying that he also appreciated those who lost in the election for the matured character they exhibited. He however, stated that even when some members of the opposition party were saying that money was flying everywhere; the election according to him was more matured, democratic and organized, compared to that of the All Progressives Congress; which in most cases was bedeviled with violence and conflicts.
When asked by the pressmen on how he felt with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerging as the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, he responded that though before the election commenced, he had Alhaji Aminu Tambuwa and Dr. Olusola Saraki, as his candidates because those are the people the masses, the youths and the new breed.
Continuing, he said, he will appreciate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to lead the country as president of Nigeria next year after the 2019 election, saying that “the devil you know, is better than the angel you don’t know”.
Speaking further, Mr. Akpebi, urged President Muhammadu Buhari, to go and rest, noting that Nigerians are dying daily because of the hunger in the land. He also frowned at the war on corruption from the government which he noted is one sided. He disclosed that just recently, the Central Back of Nigeria’s governor Mr. Godwin Emefiele, told Nigerians that the country was falling back to recession; he wondered why the country has remained stand still and concluded that the best way out of the present economic woes, is to vote in Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to make his own contribution, saying that he might not give us one hundred percent, but if he can try up to fifty percent, the masses will appreciate it. He urged the electorates of the South South and South West to make sure they go out and vote en-masse on the days of the elections.
