Landlords of Good Street, Boji-Boji, Owa in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, have commended the Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Barr. Chiedu Ebie for providing solar-powered street lights for the street.
The landlords were said to have handed over the commendation during their meeting held during the week, saying that the NDDC boss has put smile on their faces as well as that of the residents who live on the street.
In his brief opening remark, the chairman of Good Street, Mr. Bello Sunday, said he is indeed overwhelmed with joy, saying that they had made several efforts in reaching out to those that could have helped them but said all their efforts were fruitless.
He stated that God has finally answered their prayers through Barr. Chiedu Ebie whom he said has truly brought succour to residents of Good Street, hinting that they can now enjoy what people in other streets are enjoying.
Mr. Bello while appreciating the NDDC Chairman, also appealed to him to bring more dividends of democracy to them, just as he prayed God to bless and reward him for his generosity.
Others who spoke during the meeting, showered encomiums on Barr Chiedu Ebei for remembering residents of Good Street, confirming the biblical injunction that says ‘when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice’.
They affirmed that the NDDC through its Chairman has lit up the nights in the street, casting a radiant glow of change on the street previously shrouded in darkness, saying that the residents will no longer be scared when going back to their homes at night.
They further noted that the solar-powered street light has not only dispel darkness but has also catalyzed economic growth; empowering local business and enhancing the overall quality of life.
