Legacy farmers and traders cooperative society, recently held her maiden meeting at Stephen Okoh Memorial Community Health Centre, Ndobu Igbodo, Ika North East LGA of Delta State.
In a telephone conversation from the United States of America (USA), during the meeting, Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okoba, informed participants at the meeting that the legacy farmers and traders cooperative society, is a cooperative under the Okowa Legacy Group, which acts as a means to augment the SMART AGENDA programme of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, through economic empowerment of youths, women and the rural dwellers; in the area of the strategic wealth creation.
Continuing, she stated that the idea behind the formation of the cooperative society is that beneficiaries of the loan should use it to improve their agricultural work or areas of trade, to build up themselves. When after a beneficiary must have fully repaid the load received, he can then the given another loan.
She cautioned that the loan was not for one to use in buying shoes, clothes or frivolities, rather it should be channeled into a viable venture in order to enhance the individual’s sustainable development. The president of the legacy farmers and traders cooperative society disclosed that beneficiaries of the loan must have a reasonable source of income to enable them pay back the loan at a given period, for them to be entitled to further loans. She urged the – would be members of the society to be prepared to work very hard in order to achieve the aims and objectives of setting up the cooperative, saying, that there is no free lunch anywhere in the world. Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah, promised to pay for the registration forms of the first fifty persons to register as members of the cooperative society; at the rate of One thousand five hundred naira being the cost of registration form for every individuals.
She urged them to invest the loan judiciously to better their lives, promising to also use her position to further attract more opportunities that will better the lives of members of the cooperative society and her community. She thanked and appreciated all that came to register as members of the group.
The fifty beneficiaries of the registration forms paid on their behalf by Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah, cut across the lucky persons from the six quarters of Igbodo kingdom.
It took Mr. Ujedibie Onyeka, the secretary, Chief Robert Agbwaife, the vice president and some officers of the cooperative society hectic time and formular to get and register the lucky fifty persons.
The principal officers to pilot the affairs of the Legacy Farmers and Traders Cooperative Society are Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah (President), Chief Robert Agwaife (Vice President) Mr. Ujedibie Onyeka (Secretary), Mr. Osondu Odia (Treasurer) and Mr. Ejiniwe Adaka (PRO).
