LEGACY COOPERATIVE SOCIETY TO GIVE LOANS TO FARMERS

The Legacy Farmers and Traders Cooperative Society, powered by Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah foundation, will soon commence the disbursement of loans to successful members who have being screened by the cooperative society.

During a meeting with some officials of the programme coordinators and members of the cooperative, on Tuesday October 31, 2017, at Stephen Okoh Memorial Community Health Center, Ndobu quarter, Igbodo; Mrs. Stephanie Agho, the programme officer, informed members of the Cooperative Society who applied for the loans that successful applicants of the loans are entitled to a uniform amount of fifty thousand naira each. Continuing, she stated that for a member to be considered for the loan, he or she must have a viable job or trade in order to be able to have a means of paying back the loan, and must have an operational bank account with a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN).She explained that beneficiaries of the loan are expected to pay back the loan within six months, from the date of receipt. She emphasized that the loan is not free money, but something that must be repaid; hence the compulsory requirement of the individuals BVN in order to track defaulters. Mrs. Agho, further urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money, by investing it properly in their business and farming, so that the aim of the facilitator of the empowerment programme, Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah would be achieved.
In the same vein, Mr. Onyeka Ujedibie, the secretary of the Legacy Farmers and Traders Cooperative Society, thanked the programme officer for making out time to attend the meeting. He also explained to the gathering that the aim of establishing the Cooperative Society by Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah, is to better the lives of her people and the rural dwellers. He urged them to make the best use of the opportunity at their disposal, to register with the Cooperative because of the numerous benefits which they stand to a gain. He noted that several persons have used money borrowed from Cooperatives to build houses and establish lucrative businesses. He urged everyone to work very hard in order for the aims and objectives of setting up the cooperative to be achieved.
