With January 6th 2018, the day that has been set aside to elect a new set of executive at the Local Government level is fast approaching; many have indicated interest to serve their local government in various capacities.This week, Ika Weekly Newspaper brings you a profile of one of the candidates seeking to represent the people of Ika South at the Local Government Council as Chairman under the platform of the PDP, in the person of Barrister Victor Okoh.

Who is Victor Okoh?
Barr. Victor Okoh was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Okoh Nweneaeizi in Igbogili- Abavo. He is the second male child of the family of late Mr. Okoh Nweneaeizi and the first child of his mother, Mrs. Veronica Okoh also from Igbogili -Abavo, Delta State. He is married with children
Educational Background
He attended Igbogili Primary School, Abavo after which he proceeded to St George’s Grammar School Obinomba for his Secondary Education. The quest for a sound education took him to Federal School of Arts and Sciences in Ogoja, Cross River State for his Higher School Certificate.
Thereafter, he proceeded to the prestigious University of Benin for his tertiary education. Bar. Okoh obtained a bachelor’s degree in Law (‘LL.B Hons) from the University of Benin, before going to the Nigeria Law School Lagos for a call to bar certificate (B.L). He was called to the Nigeria Bar in 1992.
He did his compulsory National Youths Service in 1992 at Akwa-Ibom State, at the law firm of Uyuoko & Uyuoko where he had his first law practice experience. At the completion of his NYSC, he settled briefly in Lagos for a legal practice before the quest for further life experiences took him to Europe.
In the year 2000, he came back to Nigeria and immediately joined Politics.
Political carrier
Barr. Okoh started his career in politics as the Legal Adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party at the Local Government level. He served the party in various capacities where his services were required.
He was appointed a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Speaker Emeritus of the DTHA, Rt. Hon. Martin Okonta in 2008.
In October 2012, he was appointed Vice Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area in a Transition Committee arrangement which expired in 2014.
He is currently the PDP flag bearer in Ika South, for the position of Chairman in the forthcoming January 6th 2018 Council elections.

He is a lawyer and an administrator.

He is versed in politics; he is a grass root politician and a man of few words and an action man who does not believe in talking so much. He has the fear of God in him and he is known for his humane and loyal character and respect for the elderly. He is of moral rectitude expected of an administrator

Barr. Victor Okoh has interests in reading and travelling.
