NBA AGBOR BRANCH LONG OVERDUE TO PRODUCE SAN – Chike

The Chairman, Midwest Bar Forum, Chief Chike Onyemenam SAN has prayed for the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Agbor to produce a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, saying that the chapter is long overdue for it.

Chief Onyemenam made the prayer while giving his tribute at the Special Valedictory Court Session held in honour of their late member, Chief, Barr. Julius Bayo Onwubuya at the High Court of Justice, Agbor on Friday, April 30, 2021.

According to him, “I feel highly honoured been invited by the NBA, Agbor branch to deliver a speech at this valedictory session of their departed member, Onwubuya. Despite the fact that the invitation came late, I opted to be here because I realized that NBA, Agbor branch always come first in all activities in my life as a Legal practitioner.

“I couldn’t afford to turn down the invitation for any reason because I can vividly remember that when I applied for SAN, the NBA, Agbor Chairman was the first to write a letter to privilege committee recommending me for appointment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

“The NBA, Agbor branch is long overdue to have a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and it is my prayer that soon they should be appointed”.

Continuing, Chief Onyemenam poured encomium on late Onwubuya whom he described as a great man that spent all his life serving his nation as a policeman. He added that the deceased as a lawyer returned to the NBA which he belonged after his service years as a policeman.

He said they welcomed Onwubuya, just like every of their members because Nigerian Bar Association is a profession that will never discriminate against his fellow member. He further explained that since Onwubuya came back to his profession and has rendered his service to the Bar, it is their responsibility to pay him the last respect which includes the valedictory session of the ceremony.

The Midwest Bar Forum Chairman prayed the good Lord to give the bereaved family of late Onwubuya the fortitude to bear the loss and also take solace for the fact that their late father lived a fulfilled life.
