NO NEGATIVE SITUATION BETWEEN AGBOR AND EMUHU – Dein

Feb 25, 2018

In a move to abate the fears of people, and quench the rumour making rounds that Emuhu plans to excise itself from Agbor Kingdom, HRM, (Dr.) Benjamin Keagborekuzi I, the Dein of Agbor has called on the rumour mongers to stop spreading lie about the situation of both Communities, saying that there is no negative situation between Agbor Kingdom and Emuhu Community.

He made the assertion at his Palace on Sunday 18th 2018 while receiving a powerful contingent From Emuhu on a courtesy call.

Members of the contingent which was led by the Chief of the Community, Kenneth Abiamuwe Ikoku, were; Prof. Joseph Alika,  Prof J.C Alika, Pharm. ( Dr.) Gabriel Mabata, President, Emuhu Progressive Union in America, Anya M.C, Ika South Federal Constituency House of Assembly hopeful, Amb. Paul Alika, Mr. Felix Onyesom, Councillor representing ward 9 at the Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon. Lucky Iduh, and a host of other notable personalities of Emuhu extraction.

Presenting their case before the Monarch, they affirmed their unalloyed loyalty to Agbor Kingdom, stating that they have a harmonious and cordial relationship with communities in the kingdom, irrespective of a few whose intents are to sow a seed of discord and hatred between them and Agbor people.

They stated that they have worked closely with Agbor Community to resist all attempts by the State Government to allegedly cede their land to Umunede people by building a proposed “Umunede Rest Park” on their land.

They further intimated the Monarch that some “agents of disunity” have begun spreading propaganda by claiming that Emuhu will excise itself from Agbor Kingdom, should their son, Amb. Paul Alika who has indicated interest to run for the 2019 Delta House of Assembly election win, an assertion that has long been refuted by the candidate.

They unanimously appealed to Dein to intervene and put an end to the lies and propaganda of such propagandists, pledging their unalloyed loyalty, dedication and commitment to the growth and development of Agbor Kingdom.

Allaying their concerns, the Monarch stated that though there are people out to cause rancour between him and his children in Emuhu Community, yet, the spirit binding them together is strong.

In his words, “It is very unfair that any part of Agbor is made to feel inferior or unhappy, that is why upon my return, I have requested for two persons from each Community who will be in my cabinet as Chiefs”

He said the measure is necessary to ensure that every Community in Agbor is properly represented at the Palace, which in turn will bridge the Communication gap, and  also ensure he is closer to his people.

“Stop lying about the situation between Agbor and Emuhu, because there is no situation. We are one people. As the King of Agbor, I will at no time or in any situation cede an inch of my land to anyone, except Agbor people and Agbor Kingdom”, he affirmed.

Furtherance, he tasked the people one unity and oneness in other to speak in on voice to attract development to the Kingdom.  He also charged politicians to desist from politics of hatred and slander, stating that they are all ‘brothers and sisters’.

He further described the visit as a step in the right direction to solidify the relationship between Agbor and Emuhu Community, put an end to the rumours, and also put the rumor-mongers to shame.

Speaking on the land dispute between Emuhu and Umunede people, he assured the contingent that he will deliberate with his counterpart, the Obi of Umunede and other authorities to work out ways to settle the matter amicably.

He noted that he is pleased by the visit, adding that he is not surprised by the interest of Amb. Paul Alika, an Emuhu indigene to represent Agbor and the entire people of Ika South at the House of Assembly.

The delegates expressed their profound gratitude for the warm reception given to them by the Monarch, and prayed for long life upon him, assuring that they are his loyal subjects; hence, they will do all in their power to make sure his reign brings peace and development to Agbor Kingdom.

Amb. Paul Alika speaking to newsmen stated that Emuhu people have never harbored the thoughts of excising from Agbor. He said the rumour is being spread by evil doers who want to sow a seed of discord, due to his political ambitions for 2019, and further reiterated that, he is a loyal subject of the Dein, and by extension, Agbor Kingdom.
