VICTOR NWOKOLO, OTHER IKA POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS VISIT AGBOR FIRE VICTIMS

Member Representing Ika Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Hon. Victor Nwokolo accompanied by the Member Representing Ika North East Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly Hon Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, Delta State Commissioner for Rural Road, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council Hon. Jerry Ehiwario and his Ika North East LGA counterpart, Hon. Monday Odigwe, among other political representatives from Ika Federal constituency. They visited the victims of the Agbor fire incident from an assumed diesel tanker driver who failed brake last Sunday.

Speaking during the visit, Hon Nwokolo said they heard of the unfortunate fire incident and that they have come to pay condolence visit over the loss. He urged to take solace in God.

According to him, “I urge the affected traders and indeed all those who grieve to realize that their loss cannot be compared with their life. I am thanking God this incident did not take place during the business hours as many disasters would have been recorded”.

While praying to God to grant the affected families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, Nwokolo promised the governments would not leave them in their predicament.

He assured that the government would carry out an assignment to ascertain the level of damages to assist the victims.

The federal lawmaker, after visiting the accident scene, also led the team on condolence visit to the bereaved families of the victims who lost their loved ones.

Some of the victims visited include Mr Lawrence Aliagwu, a trader who deals in chemical products and farm implements, who said the fire burnt his shop completely.

Another victim, Mr Festus Adombor who lost his wife, Mrs Deborah Osaze Adombor in the fire said the tragic incident has drawn the attention of highly distinguished personalities including the Delta State Governor ably represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme to his family home, stating that how he wish the visit was a call for Celebration.

Mr Adombor further emphasised that it was unfortunate that the tragic incident occurred on their way back from church. According to him, “We stopped over to buy bread when the incident occurred. I was inside the car waiting for my wife when the diesel tanker exploded, and I jumped from the car and started running with my son, unknown to me that it had trapped my wife while returning to meet us.

Others trapped were passersby who rammed into the fuel explosion and were engulfed and burnt to death.
