… Okei Family Of Ekuku Agbor

…Condoles With the Family

…Described The Late Prof. As Academic juggernaut and doyen of Physical Education Studies

…Asks the family to take solace in the lofty legacies he left behind.

The Okei Family of Ekuku Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, has described as shocking and a personal loss, the sudden demise of Professor Emmanuel Ojemeh, emeritus Professor of Physical Education, outstanding family man and community leader, who passed away on Monday May 20, 2024, at age 71.

In a condolence message dated Tuesday May 21, signed by Grand Knight Emeritus, Sir Tonna Okei, Ikuku Oma, on behalf of the enlarged Okei’s family, the family stated that late Professor was a first-class graduate of Physical and Health education of the famous and pioneer university of Ibadan, Oyo state.

Through personal resolve, sheer hard work, commitment to duty, he became a globally recognized academic juggernaut and the doyen of Physical education studies in Nigeria with unblemished and unparalleled track record.

Lamenting the demise of the man he addressed as the Ikoikoiko of the nation’s educational landscape, Sir Tonna Okei, observed that the Agbor community and of course the entire Ika nation have lost an illustrious son.

Okei disclosed that the late Physical Education guru hailed from a family in Ekuku Agbor, reputed for scholarly prowess with an array of Professors and Doctorate Degree holders.

The statement further noted that the erudite Professor formerly retired last year as an accomplished lecturer after reaching the zenith of his scholarly pursuit, but was never in anyway tired, adding that the Professor departed at a time when his wealth of experience is most needed by the Agbor community and Ika nation in general.

The referenced message reads in part; We have known Uncle Ojeme since our childhood days, and the family cannot shake out the thought that he is no more. He had such a nice, charismatic and friendly disposition, and always brought cheer and goodwill anywhere he went. Our heart goes out to Aunty Professor (Mrs.) Ojeme at this difficult period in her life, of losing her better half and coping with such monumental loss! we will continually pray for her to be strengthened and have hope in our Lord Jesus Christ’

‘Professor retired but was not in any way tired. He even admitted this fact last year (2023) at his inaugural lecture where he emphatically stated that he was retired but not tired as he is ready to continually give back to the society that made him, most particularly, for the benefits of the upcoming generation. As part of love for impacting lives, Prof. Ojemeh recently called for reforms in the nation’s educational sector and volunteered to contribute his quota if invited’

Finally, While Tonna consoled the entire Ojemeh’s family for the irreparable loss and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed, the statement, however, encouraged the family to take solace in the lofty legacies he left behind.

The Grand Knight Emeritus also prayed for the repose of the Professors soul in Agbor language saying ‘Ohen ekin Diken

Osonobue Nari nkpuru obiii

Nu udo na ndokwa

Naba na ndokwa’.

A prayer literally means; ‘Goodnight Intellectual Warrior/Strong man. May God accept your soul in peace and Grace

Go in peace’.
