The former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has described Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as a good product that the people of the state should hold on to, to deliver more democracy dividends come 2019.

Obasanjo stated this at Owa-Alero, the hometown of the governor in Ika North East Local Government Area, on Monday November 19, 2018 while commissioning Owa-Ekei/Owa-Alero road project executed by Okowa. While applauding the governor for his vision in building not just roads but also introducing technological education, which he said makes one make good use of one’s head and hand, he said, “I was amazed when I heard people calling Okowa the Road Master without knowing that the name was as a result of the massive road constructions his administration has embarked on across the nooks and crannies of the state.

As an elder statesman, whatever I see and hear, my mouth will talk about; where I came from, we are always looking for good things and when we have good things, we hold on them; when we have good leaders, we hold onto them; this governor (Ifeanyi Okowa) from what I have seen and from what I have heard, he is a good product and when you have a good product, you don’t throw it away, I know that this governor is a good governor, I will hold on to him because he has started well and we must give him the opportunity to consolidate on his good works. The people of Delta State should not throw away a good product, better make good use of the opportunity you have, Governor Okowa is my brother, the performing Governor of Delta State and he is following with good steps”.

Speaking, Governor Okowa thanked former President Obasanjo for coming to the state to commission the projects, disclosing that the projects executed by his administration dot different parts of Delta State, including riverine communities that were described as difficult terrains before his emergence as Governor.

The Obi of Owa Kingdom and Chairman, Delta State Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor also appreciated Obasanjo for coming, saying that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done very well to deserve second tenure, just like his predecessors and that Okowa’s time cannot be different.
