Nnebisi Road in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, was agog as the Founder and Managing Director of Model Medical Laboratories Dr. Adeyemi Oladokun was installed the District Governor of Rotary International 2018-2019 Rotary year at Grand Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.
Speaking in a welcome address by the Host Organizing Committee, RTN Edwin E. Ogidi-Gbegbaje, welcomed and appreciated everyone who graced the occasion. He disclosed that the district, which is District 9141, comprises of four states which include; Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo and Delta States, otherwise known as the BRED States. He stressed that the Acronym “BRED” signifies availability and abundance.
He enjoined Rotarians and friends of Rotary to relax and take advantage of investments opportunities in Delta state.
In a valedictory address by District Governor 2017-2018, Rtn. Ikponmwosa Osaigie Ogiemudia, he said he joined Rotary Club as a member in the University of Benin in 1983. He also said that he joined other friends to form and became a charter member of the Rotaract club of Oregbeni (CB) after his NYSC in 1989. He stated that he has over the years, held several positions including the Presidency in 1989 and 1990.
Speaking further, he said he joined the Rotary Club of Ekpoma and later became a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Ekpan in 1999. He said he was the President of Rotary Club in the year 2001/2002 and also served the District as Two Time assistant Governor in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 respectively. He said he has also attended many Rotary International Conventions and the Presidential Institutes held in Cairo, Egypt; Accra, Ghana and others. He concluded by appreciated God for successful and glorious tenures he held over the years.
Installing Rtn. Oladokun as District Governor, the Rotary International Director, Engr. Olayinka Hakeem Babalola, congratulated him on his well deserved position. He urged all Rotarians under the leadership of Rotarian Oladokun to always embrace unity and ensure that they co-operate with him so that the clubs will be taken to a greater height, than it is today.
The Director therefore urged Rtn Oladokun to use his office as District Governor to bring more growth and progress to all states under the District `9141 in Nigeria. He prayed God to guide and preserve Oladokun with His spirit of Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding to enable him succeed in fulfilling his plans for the Rotary Club District 9141.
Speaking in a valedictory aaddress, the newly installed District Governor, Dr. Rtn. Adeyemi Oladokun expressed gratitude to God for making the day a reality. He thanked all Rotarians and Non-Rotarian who contributed towards the success of his installation for their supports and prayed God to reward them abundantly. He therefore promised to use his good office to bring more peace, growth and unity to the Rotary Club across the four states under his jurisdiction and beyond.
According to Rtn. Oladokun’s profile, he is an entrepreneur, medical scientist and a farmer. He is the founder and Managing Director of Model Medicals and Company Limited, a comprehensive diagnostic out-fit with Blood Bank facilities, water analysis and Digital Electrocarbondiagraphy and Sonography. He is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Global Trips and Devices; One step rapid diagnostic kits for women health, fertility, infectious diseases, drug of abuse and tumors. He is also the M.D Royal Farms .
Dr. Oladokun studied Medical Laboratory Sciences and specialize in clinic Bacteriology at the University of Ibadan College Hospital. He is a registered member of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Member, Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists and First National Secretary GUILD of Medical Laboratory Directors of Nigeria. He holds higher degrees of Ambrose Ali University, PostGraduate Diploma, Ekpoma in Applied Sciences, Master of Science in Malariology. He is a Doctor of Philosophy Student (PHD) parasitology. He was decorated by the Senate of Columbus International University British Virgin Island, United Kingdom with Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) Public Health Management.
District Governor Oladokun has been a Rotarian since the year 1989 with perfect attendance to several meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops. He is a member and Past President of Rotary Club of Agbor 1993 to 1994. He has served his club in various capacities as Treasurer, Secretary, and Chairman of all the avenues of service. He was a District Governor Group Representative (DGR) from 1994 to 1996. He was appreciated by District 9140, Governor Ben Aghazu, Kpakpando Nnewi in 1994/1995 for significant contribution to the outstanding performance of District-9140, 1994 to 1995.
In 2010/2011 Rotary year, he successfully led the Group Study Exchange Team to Rotary International District 4620, Brazil, the largest country in South America. As a talented Trainer, Oladokun served as the District Deputy Trainer from 2010 to 2012 and he was a regular resource fellow in training and other District programmes, such as PETS, District Assembly and DTT.
In 2014/2015 Rotary year, he led the Rotary Friendship Exchange Team to Houston, Texas, United States of America. He is member and Country Tour Director for Nigeria, International Tennis Fellowship of Rotarian. He is a MAJOR DONOR, 10th Rotary Foundation Benefactor in District 9140 since 1995.
Above all, Oladokun is happily married to Lady Rotarian Augustina Adenike Oladokun (PHF), HOD, Home Economics and an author of many books. They are blessed with lovely children. All Children are Paul Harris Fellow.
