A nongovernmental organization, an umbrella body for Agbor indigenes residing in Dallas United States of America, Otu Nmu Agbor Dallas, has donated notebooks worth hundreds of thousands of naira to pupils of fifteen public primary schools in Agbor. The exercise took place on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, in the different schools, in Ika South local government area of Delta State.
Speaking to newsmen, one of the facilitators, Mr. David Omoroje who is a member of Otu Nmu Agbor Dallas who came all the way from the U.S to distribute the note books said members of the group are made up of Agbor indigenes only. He revealed that the body is non-political, adding that the motive is a way to give back to their root. Mr Omoroje noted that education holds the key to development in any given society that is why Agbor indigenes in Dallas decided to contribute their quota in that regard.
Speaking further, the foreign based businessman, decried the state of infrastructure in the primary schools visited, maintaining that our kids deserve to study under a better condition. He therefore called on the government to wake up to their civic responsibility.
He said during the exercise, he observed that some pupils were without shoes and some without school bags, adding that when he gets back to Dallas, he will report back his findings, promising that by the Grace of God, the body will do more for the pupils, most especially those in the interior villages.
He appealed to rich indigenes of Agbor to join hands with the government to help lift the education sector in Agbor adding that the government cannot do everything alone. He said everybody must be involved, even churches and nongovernmental organizations.

He stated that non- indigenes that were born in Agbor and attended primary and secondary schools in Agbor are allowed to join the group. He urged people to always remember where they hail from as there is no place like home.
Speaking to Ika Weekly reporter from the US, the President of Otu Nmu Agbor, Dallas, Fort Worth Texas U.S.A, Mr. Andrew Udeme in his speech said he and other members of the association are happy to have contributed their quota to the growth and development of the community they came from adding that the event was the maiden edition of “Giving Background To The Community”, an event he prayed God to continue to give them good health, wisdom and prosperity to continue. He said the association hoped to improve on what was carried out this year. He thanked all who contributed to the success of the event.
