PASTOR OGBOI THE SUSPECT

A 51year old patent medicine dealer and Pastor in Umunede, Ignatius Ogboi, a native of Mbiri in Ika North-East Local Government Area is currently cooling off at the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) Delta State Police Headquarters, Asaba over an ammunition deal.

Ika Weekly gathered that Ogboi, a Pastor at the Salvation Army Church, Mbiri in Ika North-East Local Government Area was arrested following an allegation against him that he is the leader of a kidnapping gang. The police who came for his arrest allegedly recovered a loaded English made double barrel gun, 3871 live cartridges, some prohibited drugs and an undisclosed large amount of money.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Mustafa, while briefing journalists in Asaba, the State Capital, described Pastor Ignatius Ogboi as a criminal who specializes in sponsoring kidnapping and armed robbery operations in Agbor, Umunede and its environs.

Pastor Ogboi is accused of supplying ammunition to kidnappers and armed robbers to carry out their operations.

In a view to balancing our report, all efforts made to get the family of Pastor Ogboi to comment on the issue proved abortive as the family members speak to disclose any information in relation to his arrest.

Pastor Ogboi explained that he bought the cartridges for vigilante men who ordered for them and that he was going to donate the gun to them as well.

However, some persons who commented on the matter on the condition of anonymity that Pastor Ogboi is innocent of the allegation, while others say they will believe he is innocent only when he can sufficiently explain how he came about the many dangerous items found in his possession.
